In France they are trying to introduce a law banning moslems from praying in public. If you are a member of a religion which requires you to pray at specific times, and you wish to observe that tradition, then suppressing that expression is discriminatory. Nobody suggests banning ALL public prayer, or banning Hare Krishna monks from chanting in public, just moslems, peacefully going about their prayers get picked on.
I thought that it was simply a ban on praying
in the streets
, which has more practical merit.

And you are right, they are setting up momentary places because of the lack moskés(spelling?), until they have a place to go at all times.

Mosques. ;) But yeah, from what I saw on the news, the case was that in France the mosques would generally be packed full during the prayers, so Muslims that there was no room for would stop and pray in the middle of the streets, which would obviously cause problems for people generally commuting (particularly during rush hours). I can see why
that
would be banned. Not an outright banning of public prayer for Muslims.

France is wrong when they want Moslems to stop praying whenever and wherever they want.
