Just looked at this because I don't read the books, but I like to know what's going on.
BIG OLD SCREW YOU TO BLIZZ FOR MAKING MAIEV INTO A VILLAIN.
Heh, I honestly didn't see it coming; up to that point, she was just herself.

It just ticks me off because I LOVE Maiev, and she had potential to do something really awesome with her brother back in the picture and the whole Illidan fiasco over. But noooooooooooo.
Well....she's going to do something awesome....just for the other team; she hates the Highborne so if the next expansion is Azshara, we'll probably see her forces taking on the Naga in addition to the Night Elves, Alliance and Horde. But at least her insanity can't be laid at the feet of the Old Gods or the Legion.

Tides of War is up.

...
Did you just say Rhonin died?
I don't even play or pay attention to the lore any more, but good.

After reading the reviews and overviews in multiple places I've come to the conclusion that Tides of War was written to be Twilight set in Azeroth. It seriously sounds this way.

can i ask a question? What kind of novels are those since they dont seem to be included
gen greymane lord of his pack
garosh hellscream heart of war
sylvanas windrunner edge of night
varian yrymm blood of our fathers
And chronologically where would they fit in the order of the novels?
And another thing, isnt war of the ancient trilogy after arthas: rise of the lich king?

And chronologically where would they fit in the order of the novels? Those are short stories, available on the website, and they all take place at differing times in their character's history, but are generally set around the beginning of Cataclysm.
And another thing, isnt war of the ancient trilogy after arthas: rise of the lich king?Nope. WotA takes place in two distinct time periods--the beginning and end set in the time between Warcraft 3 and WoW, and the main story taking place during Burning Legion invasion 10,000 years before Warcraft 3. Arthas: Rise of the Lich King details Arthas' journey from a child during Warcraft 2 to an adult in Warcraft 3; its prologue and epilogue take place right before Wrath of the Lich King

Maiev's story was already over, and having her be a watcher was just stupid now.
We already know she's quite willing to leave allies for dead to get what she wants. Is her randomly killing highborne so out of character?

The Leader stories are in and around Cataclysm as Skree said; the 'most' recent time wise is Varian's, as that one takes place right before the start of Hour of Twilight.Maiev's story was already over, and having her be a watcher was just stupid now.
We already know she's quite willing to leave allies for dead to get what she wants. Is her randomly killing highborne so out of character?
Honestly; Yes it was.

She already proved she's willing to do insane things to get at what she would call justice.
(ie. tyrande+the river, saving her would mean not getting justice faster so don't save her).

(ie. tyrande+the river, saving her would mean not getting justice faster so don't save her).I think that had more to do with Tyrande murdering all her friends and comrades so she could release Illidan.
