Leveling Rogue 1-10 Totally Borked

Agreed. I think the hardest part about 1-10 is that you don't have a spec, you're doing generally lame quests, you're WALKING around (Ew), And you have very few abilities to work with.
Face it. Rogues are primarily single-target killers. This has been improved in the last year, but single-target is where they shine. A Warlock, on the other hand, can kill multiple targets, but relatively slowly.

I agree, rogues from lvl 1 to 10 are "borked."
IT'S TOO EASY NOW!
It use to be a challenge to level; but now? Blizz made all the low level quests super easy so people can level to endgame quick. All you have to do is turn in a few quests and sneeze and you're at 10 before you know it. There's no challenge any more. And then when you get past 10... all the old elites that use to roam the world are GONE! And what about group quests? Gone again.
Yeah you're right, it's borked.
You read the thread, right?
And you leveled, SPECIFICALLY, either a Gnome or Dwarf in Dun M. and used no Heirlooms?
Yeah...

I rolled a human rogue, it was hell for me until i got to lvl 10 but a good way to get a weapon is get blacksmithing to lvl 40 then get supplying the front quest in Ironforge, where u get plans for heavy copper longsword that sheath on ur back. It looks epic. this combined with ur talents makes for a good lvl 10 rogue.

To OP and everyone else.
The reason he's having such a hard time is probably that specific Trogg mine area in Dun Morogh.
For some reason those troggs seem a lot stronger than a normal mob for that level, and the quests associated for those mobs come a little too early in the leveling phase. The troggs are all very bunched up together and aggro like crazy. I died twice there leveling a paladin with no heirlooms. Plus, Dun Morogh as a whole just feels a lot harder to level in than any of the other starter areas.
That being said, it's not THAT hard.

I'm sorry, still not.
SS - SS - Evisc kills most things at your level. It's not hard, dammit.

Actually, if he plans on going sub for pvp anyway there's no reason not to level as sub anymore. I doesn't suck anymore for questing after the cata talent changes, and Ambush > Eviscerate kills (or nearly kills) almost any regular mobs of your level from about 20 or so onwards (I'm lv 62 now and it still works). It still sucks for dungeons, but questing is faster for leveling anyway.

I read this topic with interest as I play a rogue as my main at 85, and did at 80, and at as an alt at 70.
I had only leveled a Mage in Cata from scratch and she had a couple of heirlooms but not the entire set. I started a Dwarf Shaman w/an entire 'loom set and blew thru everything to the point I got bored and shelved him.
So, I went on a realm last night and made a Gnome Rogue to see how it was to level with only what the game gives me, IE starter gear, drops, quest rewards. No 'looms, no help, nothing from the AH or any vendor for that matter.
I died 2 times in the cave due to a rare spawn elite (LvL6) that I just couldn't beat, the first death was due to him surprising me the 2nd death was because I went back and tried to beat him with my level 4 L33T skillz (j/k) I did go back after him but he beat me.
I died again when I got sloppy doing the quest where you aim the guns for the Gnome/Dwarf attack on the robot dude and adds killed me, went back and payed attention to what I was doing and did the quest easy.
I died one more time in the cave with the Wendigos because I once again felt L33T and took on the rare spawn elite only to get mopped up by him, lol.
Other than those deaths I feel like it was pretty easy to play as a rogue, not a Pally or Warrior and stand still and stab, stab, stab, but like a rogue with some movement and awareness to my surroundings.
The only fight that I did find aggravating is the Vargish (sp) at Amberstill Ranch, with stealth, ambush, and rogue'ish tactics he got the best of me. But I easily still got to 10 w/out him and could just as easily go back and get him, although I won't because this was just a test to see if 1-10 leveling on a rogue was truly BONKED as stated.
IMO it's not at all, it was actually fun and only required a tad bit more patience and some actual playing of the character for what it is, a Rogue.
One hint - pick up herbalism and mining for easy XP while at these low levels even if all you do is drop them later.
Oh and time played was less than 2-1/2 hours. 1-10 Gnome Rogue leveled in Dun Morough.

But if you're rolling a dwarf gnome, and only wearing drops and QR's - be ready to die, a lot.
But if you're rolling a dwarf gnome
rolling a dwarf gnome
dwarf gnome
<pic missing because I'm at work>
Dwarf Gnomes aren't as good as Worgen Elves or Human Draenei.
And how! The racial "Every Gift For The Naaru-Self" is blatantly overpowered: free movement plus a heal-over-time? Yeesh.
The other racial "ShadowFlight" is less overpowered in PvE, but really shines in PvP.
