At that point, they would have been at around book 24-26; that really didn't clue you in that they might have been out first?

No. As I wasn't even aware of how long the series had been running, let alone how many episodes there were.
And I really don't see why you care.

Just kind of mind boggling is all, as the books were popular back then, which is why the series was created.

Apparently this changed at A level, but I suppose that was also down to the students being a little more mature.
Eh, I hated AS level English because I got a teacher that detested me - I was really glad to drop it. We still had to analyse themes and stuff, I just recall a lot more essay writing. I don't really blame them for trying to standardise though: if one chose any book or poem, it would really be difficult to judge whether their interpretation was valid or original.
It is a bit disheartening to hear English students in university call reading "gay" though.

Mmm. :/ There is that. But I think there should be more emphasis on enjoying the book, and then analysing it. Then again, I don't think at GCSE or A level (well, maybe at A level, where you need to read and read and read until you know the books off by heart practically anyway) there's much time for having fun with your reading, which is a massive shame.

About 2 weeks ago my English 2 Pre-AP teacher told us that we had to find a book at least 150 pages and read it.
Then people started complaining how 'too long' that was and that it was 'gonna tak me lik forevur, gawd'
...and of course, the ever-present 'oh muh gooooooowd thats gheeeeeey'
not to stereotype, but damn, people these days... ¬¬

150 pages? Seriously? I'm sorry, but that is sad.

150 pages is nothing, and yet these people will take like 2 weeks to get one finished, and then say that reading is gay and a waste of time..

There are fan-fics here on Wowhead that outnumber 150 pages when printed off.
Hell, the vast majority of Adams' ALONE murder that. And Hyper's probably would if she didn't drop so many series.

Eh, 14 is easier to read.
I print out all the big fan-fics. Something about reading them on a computer screen bugs me.

I don't mind reading them on the computer, but whatever way you want you read them is cool.

I never actually thought about why, until reading this thread, we had "library days" back in elementary school. I guess I do now, though. Perhaps schools, in lieu of new policies (Schools getting paid based on test scores, etc.) are cutting down on "unnecessary " activities during school, such as "library days" and recess.About 2 weeks ago my English 2 Pre-AP teacher told us that we had to find a book at least 150 pages and read it.

I have to balance mine with school as well, but I've almost completely stopped playing video games atm.
