NOW GO READ THE REST.
Storm of Swords
is the best, imo. The prologue to that is combination CMoA and HONF.

YES!
Granted, do graphic novels really count? Assuming you mean the book-sized comics...

Or anything with Alan Moore really.
I read more than 6,000 pages this summer, like 4,800 of which were A Song of Ice and Fire, but I don't think that's a very good series to get people to start reading on.

It's an amazing series, though I think the Wheel of Time is a little better once you start getting into it, imo.
Also,
Watchmen

I figured you could have had some other, wierd, canadian meaning.
I love how you ignored the actual point of the post too, BTW.

Because the question was obvious? Of course a graphic novel counts as a book.

How though? They're basically comics. Which I wouldn't class as books. :P
Also, if people are /flexing their e-peens about reading, I read the Hunger Games trilogy (~1350 pages) in about three days, in between other stuff. :P

And a hell of a lot of those pages are made up of primarily pictures, not words. It doesn't really count.

Not all of them; if you've ever read the Crisis on Infinite Earths collection(one of the larger collections I know of), roughly 85% of the book has text in every panel, with only a few full sized splash pages....or the Walking Dead mega collections, which can be used as door stoppers those books are so massive. And in all honesty, to me at least, a splash page has always felt like a full page of description that you would find in a 'real' book.
Just because people don't see comics as 'real books' doesn't mean they don't fall under the category; most online sites count them as books for their selling purpose. Also, if the fact that they have pictures, doesn't that negate any picture books out there too? =P
