Bliz isn't trying to be kind with the annual subsciption deal

Will most definitely be taking them up on that offer. MoP looks very good so far, and the mount and D3 are just bonuses to something I would have already paid for. (The sub to WoW I mean.)

I've seen a lot of people referring to the poll on this site and claiming that, based on the results, MoP is very well received for the most part.
Almost all of the opinions I've heard that weren't on dedicated WoW sites like this one have all been a long the lines of "It's like a joke" or "Kung Fu Panda? Seriously?" or more simply "And on that note, I'm done." In fact, I know quite a few casual players who actually quit playing right after MoP was announced, because they hated the direction Blizzard was going in.
Honestly, if you think that this expansion is a step in the right direction in terms of revitalizing the player base, you have been seriously mislead. I'm not saying that the expansion is going to suck or anything, but the majority of players do not frequent sites like these, and its that majority that Blizzard needs to worry about. And that's what the annual subscription deal is trying to do: try to convince everyone who they know or aniticipate quitting to keep playing.

In your humble opinion.

You have no facts to base this on at all.
Cheers.

Just to be difficult, I'm going to toss out a contrary position, and say that perhaps this is a reward. Maybe, just maybe, the company couldn't give a rats ass about the players who sub for 3 months following an exansion release and then quit again, only to resub once the next expansion rolls out. Blizzard can count on them for the price of the expansion and maybe 5 months of revenue per year.
Then there are those of us who pay month in and month out, year after year forming the reliable revenue stream and perhaps this is our reward. Aren't we the sort of players that should be part of the Beta testing anyway? We know the ins and outs and minutae of the game, we know the lore, the characters, we can spot continuity problems, we touch a much larger part of the game on a more consistent and regular basis than the part timers do and can offer much to the Beta process. D3 and the pony are nice little extras too.
Postscript: I do feel for those players in countries which can't take advantage of this offer. It really sucks, but it has to be the result of some pretty insurmountable legal barriers.

As far as I know, you don't get the free copy of D3 until after your 1 year sub is over. It's not as great a deal as it sounds.

You don't know what blizzard is really trying to do, unless you're working at blizzard.
And you aren't working at blizzard, so you're just speculating. Maybe they just want to be nice, maybe not. NO ONE HERE KNOW.

D3 should be out sometime in the New Year. Why are you such a Debbie Downer?
Cheers.

Um...what? You get a digital copy of the game as soon as it comes out; and we'll probably see it next year during late spring early summer...well if it's ready to come out.

The annual pass isnt to keep people away from D3, it gives it free to them ffs..It is a very sneaky way to try to keep people from leaving to SWTOR. Though I am going to SWTOR anyway, a far better gameplay experience in SWTOR > A mount to run in circles around town bored to death with in WoW

who wouldn't be worried. the graphics are outdated, except t he direct x 11 water effects.

I agree the graphics are out dated, but that's more so that Blizzard can get the maximum of players, without everyone needing an uber leet comp to play the game.

I am not really trying to be critical of Bliz with this thread, but what the sub deal tells me is two things
1. that they are strongly concerned over the idea of longtime wow players leaving wow for D3 once it is out and felt they needed a way to entice wow players to play both.
2. that MoP most likely won't be out until late next year and they will more than make their money back by giving away free digital D3 copies compared to if these same players quit wow for D3 when it came out then came back to wow once MoP is released.
Bliz is just trying to keep people playing wow since long term it is a much bigger cash cow for them than D3 will be.
Now if you truly planned to keep playing wow anyhow and to buy D3 upon release then it is a good deal. I just don't see it as Bliz trying to be extra kind to its wow players or anything like that, its a calculated way to keep the cash flow coming in.
Who cares? No one wants Blizz to be kind, they want them to do a good job.
Personally I only really care about the story, and that's been lacking, yet this package has brought me back because it's a good deal.
Anyone who thinks we're dealing with a bunch of saints is an idiot. Their job is to take as much of our money for as long as possible.
