Why do most TANKS have such ATTITUDE?

Seems like all the people who complain about my play style ONLY run 5 mans.
Your powers of deduction amaze me. Please, enlighten us on how you came to that conclusion.

I reserve the right to have an attitude about dungeons, because I can solo most of them faster than most groups do them.

one reason: tanks know they can get away with it.
They know (or think they know :) ) they won't get kicked no matter how rude they are, simply because it means a long queue for the rest of the team, when they themselves can queue and have a near instant new dungeon.
I quite happily kick tanks out of groups for being a @#$%^&bag. I'll just pop
my own board and shield
on. Even if I can't, I'll still see if others are willing to das boot prick tanks.
You dual wield shields? Jealous.
For just eighteen low payments of $49.98 I'll send you the book on how to duelwield shields and pwn bosses.

I have recently started a new character, a healing disc priest and considering that this is my first ever attempt as a healer, things are ok now but were a bit rocky to begin with.
Since starting my priest I have been dungeoning a lot, firstly to get a hang of it all before reaching higher lvls and secondly for the gear, which isn't extremely important at this stage, but it helps.
It's important. Not extremely, especially not if you have a heirloom set, but it's important enough to make a difference between a smooth run and constant mana breaks.
I have noticed that most tanks NOT all seem to have this attitude and arrogance about them.
Let's face it, there's still the same people who were rolling their DK's "cuz they superb", then they have heard that "tanks are uber" and they rolled a tank (notice there's an abundance of tanks on lower levels lately?), then... what it will be next?
I, personally, tired of these wannabe-xxx, and basically do a report for spamming on them to save my head from their whines.
I understand that people want to dungeon and do it as quickly as possible but at this stage we are all learning.. hence why we are lvl 25 and not 85, so surely they should be patient to some degree minus the attitude.
If you get a pro tank that know the game from top to bottom and really know what he/she's doing, you can tell the difference.
But when you get a freak who run 2-3 instances and think he know whole game, guess what happens?...
Also, can someone please tell me why I find it really hard to heal tanks in bear form?
Don't have any experience with disc priests, but from my bear's perspective, it's either undergearing on one of you two, or underleveling == lack of talents and skills to manage the role properly. That assuming you both play fair.
When i'm tanking, I don't care, who's healing, as long I get
some
heals. I can pull more or less, depends on my overall impression on party capabilities, and manage healer's MP just like my own.

Why do most DPS have such ATTITUDE?
Last night I was being $%^&*ed at by the DPS when I was healing LFR on my priest. People weren't hitting the Ultraxion button at the right time. People were taking avoidable damage during the Blackhorn fight. But who was getting $%^&*ed at? Healers.
My point? There are players with bad attitudes in all three roles, tank, DPS and healer.
Thank you. The only reason that people seem to believe I have "attitude" as a tank is because 9 times out of 10, the entire group (be that 5man dungeon, or 25man heroic!) has the preconceived notion that the main tank should either lead, or be in a position of high authority.
As a leader, I of course am also expected to make sure everyone knows every encounter, and to keep everyone in line. Combine this with the general immaturity of the average World of Warcraft player, and their corresponding unwillingness to listen to anyone who would even suggest that they are doing anything wrong, and you have the perfect recipe for "
Why do most tanks have such attitude?
" topics.

I hate to say it but everyone has to start healing/tanking somewhere. DPS just stroll in and try not to screw up but they usually don't get yelled at for it. Heals and tanks get grief. I am still getting used to tanking a bit and it's stressful. That can lead to them being short-tempered with others.
Starting out, whisper the tank and let him know to start out slow as you're not expert healer. That might help. If it doesn't, let 'im die and quit the group - you'll find another.

I can't say about most tanks because I rarely encounter another tank in a leveling dungeon; but according to the OP I must be the exception. The first thing I do is put the healer on focus so I can monitor their mana level; although lately that has seemed to be largely unnecessary since they rarely drop below 90% in my experience. I have often seen them contribute to the DPS as well. This is on my now level 63 Druid bear with no heirlooms. These lower level dungeons seem much easier now than they were back when I first started playing some 3.5 years ago.
I once had a mage apologize to me for their DPS in one of the Black Rocks dungeons. I told him that were having fun and stuff was dieing. "Carrying" doesn't bother me, we were all new once, and we've all had those days; I see no reason for an attitude other than a good one. I don't often chat while in a dungeon, but if I don't know something I'll ask; 9 times out of 10 someone in the group will know the dungeon no matter how obscure it is.
I would like to think that the majority of tanks have this attitude; we are there to keep everyone else in the group safe. If you screw up, I'm there to rescue you. If I screw up, the healer is there to rescue me. That's the way it should be IMO.

I only have attitude when I've told people multiple times: to avoid this, get out of that, get under this, don't touch that BUT they still do it and try to blame me when they go splat.

Talk about generalizations. "Most" tanks I've run into know what they are doing, I know what I am doing so I generally don't have an issue encountering attitude from tanks. But stating most tanks have attitude because of a few incidents (or possibly many incidents I guess) experienced by you or from a single perspective (your own), doesn't mean you should paint everyone with the same brush imho.

I have an attitude based on the player...if you say, "hey this is my first time here." then i'm more then willing to explain the fight or atleast what you need to watch out for or do. However, when you get people that either don't care to learn the mechanics or people that know the mechanics but only care about topping the dps meter that's when i get an attitude.
For instance i was tanking madness in LFR on my druid and we had wiped twice due to people not switching targets and dpsing the adds (ie: tents, bolts, blood, and blisters) First time we wiped was from the blisters on the last platform. Second time was from the adds during the last phase. Everytime we wipe it was the same people not switching targets. So i tell the raid i'm gonna put a marker on their head if i see them not switching targets...If we wipe again and you have a mark on your head we're gonna kick you. So surprise surprise only 2 people don't switch targets and i mark them. The whole time they $%^&* about having the mark on their head and that i'm an ass. I tell them that if they switch targets i'll take the mark off but that's too much trouble for them so the mark stays on. They continue to @#$%^ through the whole encounter and tell me how much of an ass i am. I then proceed to tell them that i'm only an ass when i'm forced to be one, so if they were doing their job properly i would have never said or done anything to offend them. I also reminded them that it wasn't like i just came in and started being a jerk. We wiped twice and i tried to be nice but people refused to listen so i turned to the only way i know how to motivate people.
I'm not going to deny that i've never been an ass or had an attitude as a tank. However, i've never had an attitude just because we wiped once or twice. However, if your not doing your job because your just too lazy then yes i will be an ass about it. Just food for thought because sometimes we're not just asses because we want to be...sometimes as a tank we're expected to tank, lead and babysit.

I wait and hope no dps are too stupid to cross them (You can jump over them).
As a melee DPS, you CANNOT jump over them. Please, do not do it.

I think I have found the answer on this. Having been a pure DPS'er in all of my WoWlife, I have met a lot of tanks with attitude. So, I decided to roll a pally, go to the dungeons and be the nicest tank ever. Now, this proved a lot harder than I thought, and after one run in Ragefire Chasm I have only met crap people. RFC was wonderful, everyone did what they should, my healer I knew from before, the DPS stayed off my threat. Next up, Shadowfang keep. Or maybe not... On the second boss I gave up. People pulling, people capslocking in chat, everyone trying to heal and all dying until I was the last man standing.
Oh well, I thought, and went on to deadmines. First I got into a 'speedrun' with every single person except my healer screaming 'gogogogogogo'. A rogue that ninjapulled before I was even in range for Avenger's Shield, a hunter that kept growl on his pet and needed everything, a mage that seemingly never got aggro but always died. When the Hunter ninja'ed a staff that would've been a great upgrade for my friend, I sat down and didn't move a muscle. They kicked my friend, I stayed sitting on the dock before the ship until the group disbanded, telling them what they did wrong and how to prevent it in the future with very gentle terms.
Got into DM again, once again people telling me 'gogogogo' so I state instantly "If any of you guys are planning on ninjapulling, ninjalooting, flame anyone in chat or speedgoing, you will get a boot in the @$$, is that fair to you?" Everyone agreed it was fair. Everything went smoothly, the warrior pulled threat a couple of times but nothing serious.
Wailing Caverns. My favorite dungeon. I thought. People going wrong way, people going another way, people not moving at all because they're waiting for a Serpentbloom respawn (NO, THEY DO NOT RESPAWN UNTIL NEXT RUN!). And a druid kitty in Feral spec who stealthed around everywhere and ninjakilled two bosses. And another pally in protspec who insisted that he was DPS. And then tried to outtank me until it was basically a running lap on who could tank the most. Oh and two priests, one holy and one disc, who was together healing all three 'tanks'. So, no DPS, so everything took hell of time.
I thought I would be nice. That was three kicks, seven nice questions about ninja, both pulling and looting, over two dozen capsmessages 'Stop FuxX1ng pull off me or I will rip your (insert common name of a male gentalia here) off and feed it to the end boss murloc.", four simple declares that it's 'Him or me' and several keyboardsmashes ago.
There is your answer. Tanks have attitude, because they go through all this. Before they even hit 20!
((PS. I ran all of these dungeons several times, most with a friend as my healer since I have serious trustissues. DS.))

Welcome to the tank world. And people call letting those dps die is a way of being an ass when it was in fact they were being an ass in the first place. There are limits to people's patience. Sooner or later you will get fed up with all those crap the dps gives you.
Ah, this. Yes, I will probably get fed up pretty fast. I find it funny tho, that as long as the healer is on my side I can do about anything I want to. Now, I'm not saying I'll #$%^ around simply because I want to piss them off, but if they don't listen, I won't listen either. I will probably be kicked, but yes. DPS needs to learn respect. Not saying that tanks can do, or should do, whatever they feel like... But when DPS behaves as they do, I understand why tanks have attitude. We will become a dying race if we don't have attitude.
