2.3 Talent - Aggression. Will it push combat daggers back up
Return to board index

The new 2.3 revamp of Aggression will give Combat Daggers more damage because of the 6% increase to Backstab, in turn making a lot of rogues shed useless talents needed to progress to the next level of the tree.
Does anyone believe that it is possible that this talent might possibly push Combat Daggers back up to top dps, or at least even the playing field between Combat Swords and Daggers?

Please keep in mind that these builds are strictly PvE. No "Your spec sucks" posts please.

Not happening. The damage buff to Backstab would have to be so significant that it balances off the fact that combat dags has crap combo point generation.
And thats pretty significant.

I don't really think it hurts to keep my hopes up. The only time I'll switch to Swords is when I pick up the Warglaives. But I think, at least, that this is a step in the right direction of getting daggers back in the game. I honestly don't think make daggers required for a fair amount of our skills if they didn't expect us to use them.
And I agree that they're going to have to do something about the CP generation if they expect daggers to be a good build. But personally, I out dps/dmg every rogue in my guild, (2 swords, and 1 fist) and for the most part, one of the sword rogues and the fist rogue out gear me in my opinion, but I still do more damage, so I don't entirely get it.
I still think that daggers is a good raid build granted you know how to play a rogue, it might be that, but I doubt it. (And yes, that is my current spec and my 2.3 spec)

Wouldn't respec for even a Talon of Azshara?

It's a nice sword, but I seriously doubt I'd respec for it.
I've played Fist, Sword, and Dagger, and I just prefer Dagger, it suits me much more than using a sword as a rogue. I like having the freedom to use all of my attacks as opposed to having only 2-3 skills to choose from.
Like I said before, I understand that Combat Swords generally out damages Combat Daggers, but I always out dps the other people in my guild, so I'll probably stick with daggers until I get the swords that no one wants and I might try it out.

There is too much mobility and destruction of rotations in TBC boss fights. Combat daggers cannot keep up with swords because of this.

Combat swords will always beat combat daggers, end of story. The only thing daggers has going for it is that there are a billion daggers and very few swords.

I love ignorant rogues.
