But the author does make it about race:By becoming judge, jury and executioner, you dehumanize the individual and generate animosity toward them. New York Times editorial writer Lawrence Downes says "illegal" is often "a code word for racial and ethnic hatred."
The term "illegal immigrant" was first used in 1939 as a slur by the British toward Jews who were fleeing the Nazis and entering Palestine without authorization. Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel aptly said that "no human being is illegal."
And the poison is effective. Surely it's no coincidence that in 2010, hate crimes against Latinos made up 66% of the violence based on ethnicity, up from 45% in 2009, according to the FBI.

CNN article rebuffs earlier article
. I guess not everyone there is biased and slanted. They should call it "FauxNN". LOLOLOL. Do you see how I replaced the C with Faux? That's really really really funny. People who think that is actually news are so dumb, and I am totally not dumb at all because I get my news from comedy central. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

If Ronald Reagan did it, that makes it right.

Those were both opinion pieces, not articles.

Recently, Obama nominated this black guy to this post (
source
), and in the article, it is claimed thatWatt also claimed that black voters -- unlike white voters -- don't have "an absolute commitment" to voting for a candidate based on race. An interesting claim. If, indeed, white people, in the US, largely feel compelled to vote for white people, due to their inherient racism, there would be a high % of white vote for white in the country. However, the opposite proved true for white people, and indeed, the racism claim held true for black people. The article puts it like this:Three years later, Barack Obama would become the first black president, capturing 43 percent of the vote among white voters. That does not constitute a majority, but by comparison, 4 percent of black voters supported Sen. John McCain. So, my question is: Are black people in the USA, generally speaking,
more racist
than white people?

I would like to see his exact quote.
And it's completely based on what you view racism to be. I just know I would be biased to vote against the people who are responsible for my oppression if I was black.

From my dealings with many here in the south for most of my life, I would say yes with qualifications.
The qualifications are :
1. If they are involved with the NAACP in a leadership role they are.
2. If they refuse to speak clearly, I find that yes they are. (by speaking clearly i refer to the slurring and noun verb mix-up commonly spoken by many blacks)
3. If they use the "N" word themselves, but get offended when used by any other than a black person, then yes.
4. If there is an issue with a white person and the first claim out of their mouth is "because I'm black" or some such, then yes
I could continue the list for a long period of time but I see these and other similar attitudes on such a regular basis and just plain despise those with that attitude.
I will never say that I am without my personal prejudices, but I attempt to keep them under control until pushed very far. When that happens it has gotten VERY ugly.

Hmmm... Slavers? KKK? I agree. But to lump "whites" into one of those categories, and therefore side with black people who are racist simply to make a balance, doesn't make sense to me.When that happens it has gotten VERY ugly.
We don't want that.no one needs to respond to my post.
Oh, too late. Why not just delete it? You've done this before, post something and then demand that no one reply to it. I don't get that.

I have never done that before but I wanted to keep the post because that is still my opinion. Knowing that you were going to respond to it, I'll leave a last post. Politics is one of the biggest things oppressing black people at this day and age, and the guys you have to vote for only continue it. There is a reason a lot of black people haven't been interested in voting in the past. Voting for a black man gives them a sense of comfort that he will change the oppression they go through. (I highly doubt one man could do anything like that though. Not to mention mr. lesser evil is still a pretty !@#$ president.)
And if you think black people are no longer oppressed I don't see how a discussion about the issue could be held with you at all.
Did you know that for every dollar the average white man makes a black man only makes 75c (hispanics make even less, and let's not even get in to what women make)

I don't understand. My question is, are blacks more racist than whites? You seem to indicate that they vote based on skin color, but qualify it with justification. So, perhaps you believe their racism is justified. But, answer the question, please.

I don't believe that is racism. So no, it does not make black people more racist.

So, if I were to vote for Romney, because he is white, and I vote for white people, and not for the black person, because he is black, that would
not
be racist?
Post by
EluraE
It would be. You vote to continue the oppression. Black people vote to end it.
I know you use the very simple definition of racism from the dictionary but I think that is simplified and outdated and I don't go by it. Prejudice without power should be considered prejudice, not racism.

So, is it possible for black people to be racist?

So, is it possible for black people to be racist?
Towards other people of color that they have power over, yes. Hispanics for example (In america).
If a minority of white people somehow manage to have no power over black people and there is somehow no history of it, then they could be racist towards white people. (This would have to be a parallel universe cause it happens nowhere here)

Ok, so if, let's say, I'm working for a company. In that company, 51% of the employees are white. The lowest payed white person makes slightly more than the highest paid black person. Now, let's say that one of the black employees spits on me, calls me a "cracker", keys my car, and says that white people are devils going to hell, and he says he does this to me simply because I am white, and not because of anything that I have actually done. Were any of his actions racist?
Post by

I don't think prejudice without power based on race is any different from let's say, prejudice without power based on haircolor. That guy would be hateful and insane, but it's not racism because telling you to go to hell is not oppression and it doesn't affect your life, or the life of all white people. (keying your car would affect it, but people key your car for looking at them weirdly)
Perhaps this is only a debate of the meaning of the word but I think it's important to know the difference.
And black people not wanting white people to say the N word isn't racist no matter what your definition is. It's the same as if you are mentally ill you might joke about it, but you would never want non disabled people to do the same or reduce you to only it.
You say you're not a slaver, well obviously, but you still benefit from what the slavers did and the dinamics (that is not how you spell that) they created between the races.
Post by
MyTie
Well we definitely have very divergent views on racism. That's for sure.
So, tell me, in what ways am I benefiting from past racism?
Post by
EluraE
White privilege. If you don't believe white people have it easier on average in America then you clearly know nothing about the world. That is just a fact.
