DMC:V was great in T11 and competitive in T12. According to Shadowpriest.com there is a mere 6 PP points between the two trinks. HOWEVER, these stat weights assume you are managing the ICD of DMC:V in order to extend its effective duration. If micromanaging this task is something you don't like (or haven't been doing), then Necromantic Focus is the clear winner. Shadow's mastery values also go up once you obtain 4 PC t13, which could skew things further. A nice trick is to precast VT in order to get a few stacks from NF to support your fiend/spike opener from 4pc.
Personally, I would recommend going with the Focus, it's the simpler and in most cases superior choice. If you have exp managing DoT's and you consider the nature of our 4pc, if you properly manage your ICD's, DMC:V can provide some monstrous burst. DMC:V has the same ICD as Power Torrent, so it's not impossible to manage, but adds a layer of RNG in how the two procs line up, which can play havoc with DoT re-writing. So neither is WRONG per say, but small changes in how you play will need to be adopted to your play to make the most of either.

Will is an annoying trinket to keep up on some fights, like spine or hagara for example. Plus it's got a failr long ramp up time for shadow where you lose a fair bit of dot dps at the start of a fight. Be very careful when considering which fights to use it on, and don't use it when you want good burst dps.
