I have this world of warcraft launcher issue, where i'm done with the install, but here comes the patching.
You open up the
launcher
and it says ''downloading updates tools''. There 's this blue line that shows the progress of the download. It goes about halfway to the finish, then
stops
, remains stopped for about 5 minutes or so, then the launcher immediately closes, without any warnings. Confused, you go open up world of warcraft again and ofcourse the download starts all the way back from the start. I tried the world of warcraft repair tool, same result. Infact, i tried the repair tool a number of times after trying it the first time, and all the other times it said ''no errors found''.
SHORT: Done installing, upon opening world of warcraft, the launcher is saying ''downloading updated tools'', and there's a blue line that shows the download progress. Close to the finish, the line stops and remains that way for a long time. About 5 min later the launcher immediately closes, without a warning.
Last time (about 3 months ago), on this very same computer, everything went perfectly fine with the install and gameplay.
NOTE:
-I'm on windows XP,
-My internet works fine,
-I have
lots
of free disk space left.
Now, can somebody please tell me the solution or atleast give me advice to this major problem?
- I'd really like to get some feedback a.s.a.p, thanks a whole lot!
UPDATE: I fixed it, thanks to SquireKel. I am now on the 1. SETUP 2. AVALIBLE 3. PLAYABLE stage. I hope everything will go fine here. @awesome

This sounds like one of the issues that the 64 bit client sometimes causes. Check for the following files and if found, delete them:
Battle.net-64.dll
MovieProxy.exe
WoW-64.exe
After that run the repair tool and start the launcher.

I tried looking for the files you wrote down, but i didn't find them.
Perhaps i went looking in the wrong folder.
But indeed i found a file named exactly like this:
''Battle.net.dll''
I was almost to delete it, but i didn't, for safety reasons.
I should probably tell you at this point, that indeed i haven't got 64bit windows, i have 32bit.
And if there 's a chance of me finding those folders (which i'm in doubt if there is), could you kindly write the folder location?
Thanks for your feedback! I hope i get the solution to the problem in general.

Hey Jannius-
This sounds very similar to the issue I ran into when installing the MoP beta. I found that upon restarting my computer, the issue resolved itself and I was able to continue without problems.

Thanks SquireKel,and for feedback, i'll try restarting. But i did
turn off
my computer and turned it on the next day, but the same error occoured. But i hope restarting will actually make a difference.
YES! It made a difference! Hail SquireKel! Lots of thanks mate! The launcher is on the 1. Setup 2. Avalible 3. Playable stage! Aw man, can't thank you enough. Thanks to you, wrlwnd, too, for giving feedback in general! @pureawesome

Always remember: If restarting doesn't fix the problem - repeat.

Generally speaking, it's never necessary to DELETE a file - just rename it. In a case such as this, I would have renamed it
Battle.net.dll.bak
. If it turned out that this had been a bad idea... I'd just rename it back to its original name. :)
Very good suggestion which I second. Especially large or not re-createable files (e.g. the WTF folder and its addon settings) should not be deleted right away, only renamed/moved.
