So me and a friend of mine have been running in 2s with Subtlety Rogue and Frost Mage - we do okay, although teams packing a healer usually give us a fair amount of grief (how many absorb shields do priests get?)
Anyway, we're now looking to move into 3s. and have a fairly large, active guild to recruit our third member from. So assuming we can have our pick of classes and specs, I'd like to ask the good people of the wowhead community what you'd recommend for our third?
Seems to me some kind of healer would be the obvious choice but if I'm missing something feel free to correct me.
Thanks in advance.

Disc priest. Or you could try a Shaman.

Disc priest. RMP is a very good comp, but 3 dps is viable too, you could bring a ret, crazy burst and offheals, though it won't really work on higher MMR, should be fun for the start. Nonetheless, RMP is the obvious choice, will strike fear into your enemies, opening burst, cc is insane, but unless you try to aim for high rating, you can be pretty flexible.
And priests have
Power Word: Shield
,
Divine Aegis
, and two damage reduction spells which look like bubbles:
Power Word: Barrier
(the aoe one) and
Pain Suppression
(when glyphed can be cast while stunned) :P

Honestly if you can't score kills as Frost Mage and a Subtlety Rogue in twos you're going to be having a lot harder of a time with it in threes, where nearly every team is going to have a healer or be triple DPS and just absolutely destroy your Priest if you aren't top-notch peelers. But yeah Discipline Priest is your best bet.
