Hey Mason,
Given that you're already at level 85, one of the reasons you might be having trouble is that you're looking for "new player" guides, which tend to stick with the lower levels.
Since your account is new to Wowhead, I'm not sure how familiar you are with the site, but one of the more recently implemented features is the Guides section, which you can access through one of the tabs at the top of the page.
Given that you refer to raiding as a goal, rather than PvP, I've assumed you're more a PvE player, and
Coldkil
wrote a
Rogue PVE Compendium - the do's and don'ts
that you might find helpful, especially with regards to your first question on rotations.
Another guide you might want to look through to brush up on your playstyle is
thenixie
's
Rogues: The 10 Commandments of Instances
, as it can help you avoid getting yelled at in instances!
As far as gearing up, the best way would be to run
random regular dungeons
until you're able to run
heroic dungeons
, acquiring gear through the loot system as well as by turning in
Justice points
and subsequently
Valor points
. Then, when your gearscore is high enough, you should run the
LFR version of Dragon Soul
or jumping into an
alts run of Dragon Soul
.

Gearing up when you hit 85
Since Kel got the class guides linked, I thought I would link a gearing guide. In addition to the ways of getting gear mentioned above, you can also trade in Justice and Valor points for gear. Also doing the Elemental Bonds quest line will get you a very nice starting cloak. If you get tired of doing dungeons, you can also do some Random BGs for Honor points which you can then trade for JP later on.
Here
is a guide for Rogue PvP if you ever decide to give it a try.

Check the guide Nathanyal linked, as it's for Rogue PvP players (I didn't link it in my post since your reference to raiding made me think of PvE, and there was nothing there to suggest otherwise).
Once you get playing again and start to come up with more specific questions, try asking in the PvP or Rogue forums - you'll generally get more knowledgeable and specific responses from players who know lots about PvP / Rogues!

This is Wowhead, don't worry. There aren't many people here who wouldn't be nice even if you were the biggest noob in the world (not newbie.)
As said PvE is easy - run normals until you can run heroics, then run heroics until you can run Hour of Twilight Heroics, run those until you can run the looking for raid and run that until you feel you can raid.
For PvP it's even easier. Do BGs until your face melts and buy gear, once you have the gear get in some arenas. Maybe earlier if you learn to play well, check out videos by Reckful and Neilyo and Woundman for inspiration (and others I'm sure I've missed out).
