Language Filter in Comment Replies

I'm not sure if this was already brought up for attention but I just noticed from an inappropriate comment reply that the language filter doesn't seem to be active when someone posts a reply to a database comment. I just tested it myself as well to ensure someone just didn't bypass the filter somehow but sure enough it just allowed me to post anything without censor.

To be honest a lot of things aren't working in replies. For instance, some BBCode (if you post a reply after the comment system change was made) doesn't seem to work.

The limited BBCode in replies is by design. I think a lack of filter would not be.

The filter can also be worked around. I know of at least one method confirmed as working years back that still does, though I've never seen anyone (else) use it.
Also, the filter seems to have worked at some point if you look at
this page

There's several ways to circumvent the filter, it's not that clever. There are repercussions for those who do circumvent it though, above and beyond the repercussions for using vulgar/inappropriate language on the site.

People who are hell-bent on using said vulgar/inappropriate language would probably find a way eventually regardless of how clever the filter was; there are probably quite a few things better to spent time on than beefing it up. As long as it prevents casual use of bad words everything else would probably have been the subject of a report regardless.
Chances are you already know about the method but want me to drop you a mail about it anyway, asakawa?

Absolutely!

Hehe, I bet I do but sure thing, drop me an email (mine is on my userpage or you can send it to ). It's always good to know about the wily things people might do to sneak one by us ^_^

Well I wasn't suggesting anything be beefed up, the filter doesn't apply to anything in Database Comment Replies is all I was bringing to the Staffs attention.

I think Izichial said that in reply to my comment that the filter wasn't very clever. This is definitely a useful thing to be made aware of.

Ahh you're correct... I think I scrolled down too fast and missed that reply of yours about how "clever" the filter is or lack thereof.
