Fourth Spec for Each Class

My 70 minute commute to work and 65 minute commute back gave me some time to get a little creative.
If Blizzard ever decided to give each class a 4th spec, what new specs do you feel would be viable?
Here are my own thoughts:
Warlock: Tank. We see it already with that Dark Apotheosis glyph in MoP Beta, and it's caused quite a commotion about the realistic possibility of this actually being feasible.
Priest: "Focus" spec. Melee DPS, like a Friar. Spirit can be converted to Hit, INT could be converted to Attack power. Uses staves for damage, maybe having PW:S up increases attack speed, etc.
Mage: "Celestial" spec. Ranged DPS with a bigger focus on space/time magic. Things like stop (a stun), hasted attacks, summoning meteors, gravity spells to hold down mobs, dunno. I always imagined Arcane would be like this. Another idea would be a Battlemage, a melee fighter who also uses attack spells.
Rogue: "Swashbuckler" spec. An avoidance tank. Rift had a rogue class that did this and it was a lot of fun (unfortunately the rest of the game didn't hold my attention.)
Druid: "Guardian." Already has this in MoP.
Monk: some sort of ranged DPS.
Shaman: "Warden" spec. This would be a tank spec they've been begging for, utilizing mostly earth spells for defense. Fire for elemental, air for enhancement, and water for healing. Makes sense to me.
Hunter: Melee DPS with a pet out. I'd also make MM not have a pet at all to further differenciate the specs.
Paladin: "Justice" spec. Ranged Holy DPS. Another INT plate user.
DK: "Necrosis" or "Sacrifice" spec. Healer. Uses their own health to heal others, and then drains health back from enemies. Maybe their RP can be changed to Mana like what they did for Monks, and they would be another INT plate user. Maybe they could transfer health pools of two players (let's say the tank and a DPS), I dunno. I'd certainly rock this healing spec.
Warrior: "Command" spec. Pet DPS. Like the Captain class from LotRO, they can summon either an archer, rogue, knight, mage, or healer to aid in combat. I wouldn't make them permenant pets though, I'd go the route of the Theurgist in DAoC, and make them short term pets on a shorter cooldown. Like lasting for 25 seconds with a 2 minute cooldown or something. They also would use a shield for DPSing, bashing it, throwing it, etc. I think it would be a lot of fun.
Anyway, that's all I got. Have a good day. :)

Warlock are meant to be 'oh #$%^' tanks, not viable ones; in all honesty, they won't be like that in Live.
As for this idea: Just like every other time it pops up, it's not the best one, since it would just cause even more headaches for the Blizzard crew. Right now on Beta, the Guardian spec for Druids is out dps'ing the Feral spec...and that shouldn't be happening, so lots of balancing is still to come in that regards.

Oh, I understand the logistics behind the improbability of this ever happening for the reasons you've stated. This is more of a creative post.
Personally, the DK Healer and the Warrior Commander would be a lot of fun.

Nah, no thanks. This was the first place I thought of to post the creative idea. (And yes, it's creative. It came from my imagination.) It's a general discussion thread. I'm sharing the ideas to generally discuss them -- both my own and any others.
If there was a thread about it already, I didn't find it. I don't post here often, so when I do, how about you give a guy a break and just entertain the topic at hand. I also don't understand how something can be "spouted a thousand times" to someone who doesn't come here often. While you may have seen topics like this in the past, I haven't, nor did one come up when I did a quick search on it.
I kind of expected this though. This forum has gone a bit downhill from the old days. Elitist posters screaming about "use the search, this has been discussed," and then yelling about "stop necroing threads!" There is some imaginary line between necroing a thread and adding to an existing topic that I cannot seem to grasp in my little mind.
Humor my naivety and let's just discuss the ideas I presented. If you can't, no problem, I don't need to ever visit this forum to get through my day. Nor do I need to try putting other people down to inflate my own virtual ego.
BTW: Never say never when it comes to MMO's. You WILL eventually eat your words! :)

I always enjoy these types of posts, ignore the crankyold men who continue to click on these threads and then feel the need to complain about the content knowing full well what was inside. They are still mastering the art of forum browsing.
Personally I'd love to see blizzard really open the fllodgates and start breaking down molds that were created and holding on to legacy archetypes held by classes.
The effort it takes to completely balance everything comes at the sake of something, in WoW's case it's new and exciting class and "specs".
Submit this on the blizzard forum too, never know what the spark will be that starts something cool.
Good luck!

The most recent 4th spec topic.
It was posted a little over a month ago. There are a few ideas in there I believe could work. Something like a Mage tank, akin to a battle/war mage, or a Shaman tank, Paladin caster, or even a Warlock tank.
But somethings don't make sense, such as melee hunters or priests or healing DKs. I rather see Priests get a holy ranged dps spec instead. Something that it has a little of.
But in the end, this will cause a lot of problems with balancing. Something that was brought up in that old topic.

melee huntersThere was a melee hunter though,
Beastmaster from Warcraft 3
; but as melee weapons are now useless for hunters in MoP, don't see it ever coming to light at this point.

Shamans should seriously have a tanking spec that manipulates the Earth element to take less damage. What the heck is the point of
Rockbiter Weapon
at 85?

Slight OT abilities. I also known a few shamans to use it to taunt down spiders during the Beth'tilac fight. Although it was a waste of time since they had to change imbues, cast UE then change back, but it was still a taunt that could be used.

Yea, but I really think the element Earth could help make a Shaman tank spec.
4 specs, 4 elements. That would be awesome.

In Vanilla, there was a melee spec for hunters.
Funnily, there was some discussion ages ago about making use of the dual wielding Hunters had by converting BM into a melee specialization.

Yeah I agree. If they were to have a 4th spec, make it tanking using the Earth.

It's obviously possible for Blizzard to add fourth specs, and they've done lots of things that would never happen already (transmog, allowing alliance & horde on the same pvp server, tanking non-warriors, no hybrid tax etc). Whether they'd make a new spec when much of the same effort could be used to make a new class is a better question. If they did, they'd probably make it even out imbalances - so Warlock / Rogue / Shaman tank spec (or whatever class is underplayed in MoP).

Haha. Made me chuckle.

I can safely say melee hunters and priests will never happen
, if you wanted to fight in melee range just roll a melee class, works similarly and doesn't create needless balancing headaches.
Just because 1 class is getting a 4th spec doesn't mean every class needs or should have a 4th spec
Eight years later, but can you still safely say that?
