Hi,
Just wondering if you guys are going to be doing a site for GW2?
I'll take my answer off the phone. Thanks.
Cheers.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##sas148##DELIM##Moved to Feedback. It is more suited there than elsewhere on the site, except perhaps Off-topic but I'd like to make sure those who may know the answer to your question can see it easily.

No. Because it's not about wowhead. And they post stuff about their other sites on the main forum too.
Thanks for caring though.
Cheers.

Honestly, it would be better to ask this on the ZAM website forums, since you know, they are the ones who make the new Heads.

Yes, it is happening.
P.S. Don't listen to people saying not to post here. An admin can say yes or no, it's never a problem to ask things. But feedback is where you should always ask, if you want an admin response. :)(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Ashelia##DELIM##

Great. Thanks.
As for where to post. If you were to post 'gw2head is coming soon', wouldn't you post that in general? Well, that's what this is. Wouldn't you want all the wowheaders to know about it?
And please, learn from the mess that torhead was, and don't make the same mistakes again.
Cheers.

I think a lot of the problems with Torhead were related to SWTOR. It's hard to make a database when you don't have an addon, and it's even harder to make a DB when the game ends up trickling out and losing subscribers quickly--databases require a big community to remain active and thrive.
I hope GW2 does better, and I also hope that we've learned a lot from Torhead. Unfortunately I have my hands pretty full with maintaining Wowhead and running LolKing, so I can't really help out with Guildhead more than just looking at how it's progressing.
I think it's helpful to look at new sites like new games. WoW in its inception was a pretty odd game, but people are comparing its Cata era to a game's new launch. So people ask why games don't have XYZ function that WoW has had years to build. The same goes for a DB: when Wowhead launched, it was a simple talent calc. It grew into the resource it is today. :)
And no, we wouldn't want it in general. That's about WoW, not GW2. We will do a news post when Guildhead is ready to show.(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Ashelia##DELIM##

The blog posts show up in WoW General but that's not necessarily always WoW related. Questions about ZAM sites and such should be posted in Feedback which is why I moved it here. :)

Not all of the sister sites contain a -head suffix. I believe at present only two do.
I don't personally see a problem with it and if the original concept was sold by the creator of said concept then I'd hope they understood the nature of the sale.
That being said, there is no guarantee that gw2 will have the -head suffix either, if it does then so be it, but it's not a certainty.

Only one does, Torhead.

I was actually including Wowhead in my count of two.

I don't think GW2 will be like Tortanic. Alot of the hype has come from fans (which is always better than the developer telling you it is epic) and it's building upon an already existing and large playerbase from the first game. They have also listened to the fans alot when it comes to creating the game building upon alot of their ideas. On top of that it's F2P, so people will probably be more inclined to keep on playing since they don't have to pay for two MMO's. Plus, I don't see as many "GW2 will kill WoW" comments flying around, I see more people saying they will enjoy both, this is a really good sign for GW.
I hope that 'GW2head' will be as good as WoWhead as I plan on playing both and as with alot of people, WoWhead has been a great tool for me for nearly everything I need in WoW and would love a GW2 version to flourish and grow.
I think you've got it spot on about GW2. It's F2P once you buy it, so there's no downside to playing a bit of GW2 as well as WoW. That's where SWTOR failed really, as paying for 2 subscriptions for most people is more than they're willing to do.
Guildhead will be as good as wowhead if 1) They can datamine data. 2) They don't make stupid decisions (a la torhead).
Cheers.

No, but I was considering it a sister-site of ZAM.
If people are going to be so picky about this I should just go rewrite my original statement. lol

I was under the impression that d3db had only been named such because d3head had been camped. It appears that name is now controlled by Zam, so I guess either it had been held by the company preemptively all along, or Zam's legal team did a trademark dispute with someone's registrar. Either way is evidence of the pattern.
Why would you let someone have a name that implies affiliation with a brand you've made? We shut down sites that are named -head to be misleading--it's free traffic for them, and oftentimes, people think we made it. D3DB was never going to be Diablohead. :)
