1. Do you have an professions? If so, what are they? If you have a gathering profession such as Herblism, Mining or Skinning, you can sell the materials you gather on the AH for a profit.
2. Are you just selling all of the Green and Blue bind on equip items you are finding to the vendors? If so, reconsider and take those to the AH and try your luck there.
3. Are you leveling First Aid? If so, are you selling your excess cloth once you get past the next level? Again, that's a good way to make money on the AH.

Each capital city has an Auction House. Orgrimmar and Stormwind have more than one. Ask a guard for directions.
Here you may put items up for sale, such as unbound equipment, trade goods, unleaned recipes or pets, etc. You set an initial bidding price and a buyput price for your auction and specify the period of time you want your auction posted for. Other players can then either bid on your auction or buy it outright.
Once you've located the Auction House, click on an Auctioneer and browse through the different tabs on the left to get an idea of what other people are selling and prices. Trade goods such as leather, raw ore, herbs and cloth sell well provided you aren't setting your prices too high and trying to price-gouge.
Unbound equipment will also sell reasonably well if priced properly as people buy it for different reasons such as transmogrification and for disechanting.

People who are still using Auctioneer and Auctionator are selling themselves short. With a little prep time, TradeSkillMaster blows everything out of the water when it comes to making gold at the AH.

Questing & looting kills earns a fair amount of money in itself, but recognizing what to sell on the AH is a big thing too. If you have two gathering professions, you can sell all the materials you find on the AH for a lot of money, and if you have a crafting profession, you can advertise in trade to make items for other people and most of the time they'll tip you, in addition to paying if you use your own materials.

dont worry about training. the patch that drops tomorrow will make all spells autimatically learned when you level. the only thing a trainer will do is change specs.
as far as making money, the easiest way is to take a gathering prosession as mentioned above. when i started over on a new server, i was able to make over 20k gold from selling herbs and leather while leveling.

Also, what people are often talking about when they talk about playing the Auction House is buying low and selling high. About a week ago I ran into an enchanting formula in the AH that in over 2 years of scanning with the Auctioneer Add-On had never popped up. Someone had it posted for less than 2g. I bought it and looked it up to see if it still dropped in the game and it does but is very rare. I put it up for a 20,000g Bid/35,000g Buyout and within 10 minutes I had someone offer me 12,000g for it and by morning someone had met the bid price. In the longrun I cancelled the auction when I realized it was one of the ones my enchanter didn't have and will be able to make money from selling the scrolls. Playing the AH would have turned my 2g into 19,000g if I let the bid go.
When I first started playing the AH I spent pretty much all the money I had on a tailoring pattern from Firelands that was for sell for 5k in the AH. All the others of that level had been running 12-15k. It took about a week but I eventually sold it for 10k. A few weeks later another one showed up for 5k. I bought that and did the same thing.
Lots of people do this kind of thing on different markets. Some do it on ore, some on cloth & leather and lots on herbs.
It takes time and knowledge though and both can come in time for you. I never had much money in game even though I rarely spend it. Now I am looking at over 100k on my Alliance main and 120k on my Horde alt and I am poor compared to most flippers :)
