As you all know, MoP will be released sometime tonight. With it, the new race of Pandarens. While I started playing WoW soon after the release of WotLK, I didn't actually upgrade to Cata until a few weeks ago, so I missed the initial rush of Worgen and Goblins.
My question is...will I be able to make a Pandaren character? The starting zone will obviously be PACKED full with new characters...
You're probably all going to say "Yes, you should TOTALLY wait a few months!" because that means less competition, even though I'm comparatively a new player compared to many of you who have played since vanilla/BC.
What do you think?

the starting zones will be packed with pandaren, yes, but Blizzard tweaks new content to make it less painful the first few weeks, with super fast spawn rates and lots of spawn locations for key mobs, higher drop rate for quest items, and phasing to zone out players far enough ahead of you.
example: when cata first came out, farming the elementals at hyjal was easy, cuz they respawned almost instantaneous, and had so many spawn points that competition was nil.

Starting zones are instanced now, that means you can have several versions of the same zone with a limited number of people to avoid overcrowding.

Even if the zone is packed, that's what interact with target is for.

Nah, I rolled a pandaren within 4 minutes of the expansion going live. I had absolutely no problems.
Mob respawn rate was insanely high, so even though the zone was PACKED to the high-heavens and above and beyond, I still never had to struggle once to complete any quest at all. There were some "boss" mobs that you had to kill but these weren't taggable, meaning that even if someone else hit it first, I can still hit it and still get credit.
And since most of the NPCs are phased, it doesn't matter if someone is standing near them.
As a last plus, there are no mounts in the wandering island, so nobody can play jackass and hop on a mammoth to block NPCs.
One thing I did had to do was disable general chat. IT WAS MADNESS. Barrens Chat 2.0
The level of stupidity on it was brain-damaging. But that's what the lovely disable chat function is there for. Once that was disabled, the hundreds of other players stopped being a problem.
