So brewmasters, last night was the first night of raiding for many of you. How exactly did you feel about monk tanks in a raid setting? When we are really getting hit like trucks and such. Also any logs you can post kind of showing cd usage and such for those who are more mediocre (kind of like me) would be greatly appreciated.
Well first of all, my night as a whole was horrible, and if you look in the other forums
here my group as a whole was getting hit like trucks from overloads including me at times.
However on my end of things, my logs can be seen
here and my armory
here. (as of this post no gear has changed however i will be attempting to run some heroics as soon as the server comes back online to get the last couple pieces, ring, waist, shoulder, and cloak.), frankly i cant tell what to say to it. I was actually kind of surprised by how little damage it seemed like i was taking, especially compared to some dungeon pulls where i seemed to just go down before a heal could reach me. However looking at my damage by logs, and seems to be similar for most people, i was getting hit for most of my damage from rend, close to that in meelee, and then of course the occasional pool or overload. My damage tended to seem like it came from spikes, sometimes because of the overloads(obviously) others from pools, and then just sometimes i didnt seem to get a heal for awhile and slowly dropped before i could expel or guard myself. So in the end it seemed like my damage came while in a raid sort of similar to my dk in cata where it came somewhat spiky, right as all your stuff kind of falls of for a second or two you get spiked, then you get something back up and voila damage is smooth again.
Damage wise, tanks are freaking overpowered as heck right now because of vengeance. I was sitting at 130-150k atk power most of the time in the fight, putting me 1st or 2nd on the dps many times through the night.
Little note, what is your guys' advisement on using avert harm as a raid cooldown for the overloads when i used it in conjunction with dampen harm, it seemed to keep me decently up, and it looked like people in the raid were still getting the mitigation, and since it all happens as once it would only count as one ability for the dampen harm effect right? Also looking at the talents right now, i almost feel like diffuse magic would have been a better choice for that massive mitigation, as well as the possible reflect back at the guardians?
So in the end what was your take on things, and maybe as a community kind of help each other all become the best brewers we can.
