Joking about politics being a cesspool is overdone and cliche. Once you actually educate yourself on the matter and understand the issues its not so muddy as people make it seem.
Yes to most liberals Republican candidates will always be a bunch of gay hating, evil, power hungry sociopaths. And to most conservatives Democratic candidates will always be a bunch of amoral, hedonistic degenerates, who are single-handedly causing the downfall of western civilization.
But in truth both parties, for the most part are just trying to do the best they can, as far as their particular party will allow. Its a hard job, and its one where people expect perfection of you, which is unfortunately impossible.

American politics is basically Alliance vs. Horde.
Two factions with fundamentally minor differences that want to rip each others' throats out for no reason, where if their leaders would actually sit down and talk to each other instead of engaging in endless penis waving, progress toward a better world for all might actually be made.
And in the end, both sides are really pretty much crap if you analyze them objectively, but the neutral third parties are powerless and people stop caring about them once the next expansion hits.

Actually sir, I've managed Congressional campaigns and lobbied Congress on tariffs and trade. I know more than you think. And though it's cliche perhaps for the ignorant to joke about the cesspool on K street, the truth is, most people think the way you do.
The truth is, it's far more disgusting behind the scenes than you would ever, ever in a million years believe, because if I told you the whole truth the shock would force you into hard choices you don't want to make.
Yea but is there really any more backstabbing than in big business or higher education or any other area of high competition?
My cousin went to an ivy league law school, and she said there were people there who would deliberately give you false information. We all know about the backstabbing and lying that goes on in the business world. I think its just the way people are when high stakes are on the line, its not that politics are flawed, just that people are.

I do have to agree the process is pretty sleazy. I went to college for a hybrid economics and political science degree with was basically designed to be pre-UN prep. When I got out and did my internship (in local politics- nothing too high level), it made me never want to be involved with it again. Say what you want about business or education, but never in either of those fields have I seen someone have their aids scope out soldiers funerals to see if there were enough press there to make it worth stopping by to pay their respects.

Idk man, i still think purposely giving people false information to increase your own class rank by lowering their GPA is pretty bad.

If Alliance = Democrat and Horde = Republican, then the Kalimdor hordies are basically the Neoconservatives, whereas Sylvanas and the Blood Elves are like Ron Paul and the Tea Party: we know what the real threats are to the world and try harder than everyone else to fight them, but the rest of you call us crazy and seem to be more interested in throwing poop at each other while Goblins/AIPAC bleed us all dry.
Keep in mind that this analogy is not perfect, as I don't think that Dr. Paul would have approved the blight-bombing of Southshore.

I love this quote. I'm going to put it in my sig for a while.

Why? It's not particularly funny beyond the "wry understatement" factor.
This morning, I realized that although Sylvanas is a poor stand-in for Ron Paul, she's a great one for Barry Goldwater. That guy had some...
interesting
opinions on the use of nuclear weapons, to say the least. Something about lobbing one into the men's room at the Kremlin.
My broader analogy also meshes well with "Thrall = Jesus": the Horde/GOP seems to hold him in very high regard, even though they don't really pay much attention to anything that he said or did!

Because it works extremely well out of context, at least in my opinion. If you were to overhear someone say that in passing conversation, you'd probably do a double-take and wonder what the hell they were talking about. I like quotes like that.
