Aravitia watched the bustling streets of Stormwind below, hands clasped tightly behind her back, golden eyes hidden behind square framed glasses narrowing in thought. How many of them, she wondered, were Ebon’s agents, watching the building to glean some clue as to her organizations next actions against him, and countless other gangs and crime syndicates at work? The fruit seller shouting from his corner? The young woman in peasants garb toting around her baby? She felt a slight smile tug at the corner of her lips as two men, garbed in black trenchcoats like her own grabbed a man who had been idling by the mouth of an alley a little too long, and dragged him into the darkness.
“Cleaning up the streets is a…difficult job,” she began, turning back to her desk, neatly stacked files covering it. “But, it is a necessary one. Wouldn’t you agree, Miss Brighthammer?” she asked the woman standing across from her.
Felicity Brighthammer stood tall and proud, garbed in a set of silver plate armour with a long sword sheathed at her side and a kite shield upon her back. Even without her cursed eyes, Aravitia could have told they were very valuable, though with them she could tell the precise value down to the last copper. Fitting, considering the woman was the current heir of that family. It had taken a bit of effort to gather her attention, not to mention to agree and meet with her, having to smuggle the other woman inside as discretely as possible. This would be a one time meeting, and Aravitia intended to make the most of it.
Felicity nodded slowly, her long blonde hair bobbing slightly at the motion.
“I would. And that’s why I’ve come. You said you had something important to tell me,” she said stiffly and bluntly.
“To the point. I like that.” Aravitia nodded and pulled the drawer of her desk out. Reaching inside, she pulled forth a small, elaborately crafted glass bottle covered in delicate filigree, a strange, almost translucent mixture inside and set it on the table. She was very careful not to look directly at it, else it might blind her.
Felicity arched a brow curiously. Good, Aravitia thought, she doesn’t know what it is yet.
“This,” the former under warden began, putting her fingers atop the bottle, “is something circling the upper echelons of society of late. It is a drug. But not just any type of drug. Even with all my resources, this is all that I could gather. Not even a cup of it. It grants the user a euphoric state that lasts hours at a time, unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.”
“I don’t understand. How could it be so difficult to gather?”
“I was getting to that. You see, the reason it is so rare, is because no one knows how to make it. Not even where it comes from. As a result, it is obscenely valuable. This little bottle,” she explained, holding it aloft, “is an example of the drug in its purest form. It is worth as much as Stormwind’s entire national budget for a year.”
The paladin started in surprise. “That’s…”
“Indeed. I know you may not necessarily agree with my methods of assisting law enforcement, but this is something we can both agree on. As it is, the amount of this drug available is negligible. But, if someone should begin producing it en masse… “ she let the thought trail off.
Felicity eyed the bottle in obvious suspicion. “…I see.”
“Yes. This, is why I have invited you here,” Avaritia said, slowly circling her desk to stand before the paladin. “Our goals are the same in this. I want you to find it, and quickly, before it can do more harm than it already has. I know I can trust you, because you won’t be blinded by the value of it, and can see its true menace.”
Felicity was silent for a time, staring at the bottle. Coming to grips with such a thing was difficult, but she had to agree, it wouldn’t be good. Though she didn’t trust Aravitia and her paramilitary, this was something serious and strange times made stranger bedfellows.
There was only one other question still nagging at her. “Why send me? Why not some of your own troops?”
Aravitia sighed slightly. She slowly crossed the floor and faced the window. Staring out at the street once more, she continued. “I…would prefer no one know of this. I have many enemies, and if they knew I was making a move like this, then they would not be slow to react. I need someone outside my employ, so as not to arouse suspicion. Adventurers, soldiers for hire,” she continued, turning about. “They can move about freely without suspicion, and that’s what I intend. You are but one of several I have hired for this job,” she said, turning and patting a certain pile of folders.
“This is not an easy thing to ask, Miss Brighthammer. The road will be long, and I will not be able to render much aid. I have gathered as much information as I could discretely, and believe I have found one of those distributing the drug. It will be up to you and the others to finish the task. So, Miss Brighthammer,” she turned back to the paladin, “can I count on you to do this?”
Felicity looked to the folders, her face impassive. Then to the bottle upon the desk, and finally to Aravitia. The woman in the black could not help but smile slightly as her counterpart in silver slowly nodded.
“Good. Then, let’s get started.”

A black-masked human was let into the office of his boss, a stack of papers tucked under his left arm. He set the stack onto the desk at the far end of the room, and the helm-wearing man sitting behind the desk took the papers one at a time and quickly read them for only the most important aspects. But when he got to the final few pages he slowed down, carefully reading over every detail.
Ebon put the last of the paperwork back down on his desk. Three days ago he had requested the weekly report on Stormwind’s underground to be completed early. Doing so undoubtedly left out some details that could mean rough times for his organization, but such was a risk he was willing to take. All he was truly interested in, anyway, were the particulars in the final pages of the report:
Firstly, there was a newest face in Stormwind. Her name was Avarita, and she had started a crusade against Stormwind’s seamy underbelly. She and her little organization of do-gooders had begun rounding up all manner of criminals they could get their hands on and locking them away – or worse, on occasion. Normally Ebon could appreciate the work of such heroes, they opened up areas for his gang to expand into; but this time his gang was NOT excluded. Usually the sheer magnitude and obscurity he operated the Ebony Gang with kept the eye of such champions of justice off of him. However, this woman apparently had better eyes than most, and the same extended to her followers.
She was far more than a nuisance; she was a true adversary, one he would have to deal with very, very soon. But at the moment there was another, equally-pressing matter; a new item on the market, one he had no access to.
This item was a new drug, a potion that’s name his people had so far been unable to identify – if it had one at all – one that, from what the report detailed, elevated its partakers into a state of euphoric bliss. Ebon had his hands in the drug trade in cities all across the world – except for Silvermoon, per his arrangement with one of its most influential citizens – and had access to substances that did very much the same thing, but again there was a alteration of the status quo. This drug was selling fast, even for something that cost as high as it was - thousands of gold for mere vials. It seemed the demand was so high that neither supply nor cost were any longer a matter.
To make matters worse; the upper echelons of the city were the ones who had taken the most liking to it. This had a dual-edged effect; firstly it made it lent itself to the supply and demand, making the profit achieved from selling the drug outrageously high, and secondly it was cutting deep into and pushing him out of area his gang had previously controlled, all but evaporating their greatest profits. All attempts to get his hands on a sample and reverse-engineer it for his use had failed one way or another, which left him with only one option.
If he wanted to keep the Ebony Gang from going bankrupt he needed to acquire the formula for the potion from its source.
But this brought him back to his first problem; Avarita. With her organization sinking their Fel-damned claws into the city he had been rendered motionless. Outside of the lowest shadows of Stormwind’s underground his gang members could barely live normal lives, let alone tread in any way that lent itself to his search for said formula; he had tried already, and they had only been rounded up like the rest. Avarita he had plans already brewing to deal with, but if he wanted to have any chance of maintaining his position as one of the most powerful gangs in the city, and even become one of the most powerful gangs in the world, he needed to move on the matter of this potion-drug immediately. This meant he would have to seek aid outside of his people.
He grimaced beneath his horned helmet.
Usually he had no problem with outsourcing his help, but the fiasco with the death knight he had released from the Stormwind Vault a month ago had left a sour taste for it in his mouth that continued to persist with only the slightest bit of dilution.
But what choice did he have?
“Do we still have recruiters in the field?” he asked the gangster that had brought him the report – the night elf was standing loyally at attention until dismissed as was proper. Avarita’s actions had already put most of their recruiters out of work, and Ebon was not sure how many – if any – were left for the job he was intending to give them.
“Only a handful, sir,” the elf replied, “but yes; the best we have.”
“Tell them to stop looking for the usual lower-luck people they typically bring into the gang,” Ebon ordered, “and to start looking for the type of person that could be classified as a ‘hero.’ It’s time we start making our moves bold again, and to the Nether with Avarita if she tries to stop us.”

This is the closed RP sign up sheet for an upcoming RP called
Poisoned Virtues
. This thread will later be turned into the Q&A. We will not begin for some time to give everyone who wants to a chance to join. You can use any characters races, and not just alliance, though if they are of the Horde, they will be incognito at first as the RP begin in Stormwind. We will need several things first of all before your character will be accepted:
Name:
Age:
Class if applicable:
A short description:
Any other information you wish to add is fine.
Character history is not essential, though you may add it if you so choose. Once we have enough characters, the list will be split in two. One will be working for Ebon, and the other for Avaritia. Keep in mind that we reserve the right to reject characters if they seem unsuited for this RP. Better known as: anyone who would be able to solve each and every problem with a snap of their fingers such as dragons, or are so weak they wouldn't possibly be considered by either Ebon or Avaritia for joining.
As this is a closed RP, if you wish to introduce any other character after we begin, or had an idea for the plot that would work outside of your own characters, please consult Morec or myself.
And should you wish to withdraw, or need to leave for awhile and won't be able to post, kindly make an in RP reason, or hand you character to another player until you can return.

Name: Sirax Harrington
Age: 24
Human, class not applicable
By appearance and name he is the same character I recently introduced (and let die) in Fight for Life. Here, I intend for him to be a young and enthusiastic alchemist.
6' 2", unruly inch-long coppery brown hair, reddish three-week beard, grey-blue eyes and underweight. Intelligent, thirsty for knowledge and hungry for success.
Morally, he tries to do good, but his academic interests often take the upper hand. He's absolutely fascinated by the first plague, the forsaken blight and such things. Coming from a middle-class Stormwind family, out of school and out of job, he's desperately trying to work with his beloved flasks and stills, but with no money to buy his own shop he is vulnerable to certain... proposals.
As a schooled alchemist, he has some training and experience in arcane matters, but he was never a very successful magician. Though his intellect gives him a great understanding should he choose to delve into the subjects, he lacks the essential concentration of a good spellcaster.

Might have a hordie on incognito
Name: Zelia Shadowsun
Age: Unknown
Class: Rogue
With a realistic light-blonde wig over her hair, and blue eye lenses, none would ever think Zelia (who is known as Zelia Sunshade) is a blood elf working for her master, who is on the side of the Horde. She walks around in a blue dress. She's quite the good rogue, not at fighting in-se, but at infiltrating. In Stormwind, she tends to not stay too near high elves, as they might recognize her as a blood elf, risking her life. However, she carries always a powerful smoke bomb, and always wears her leather armor under the dress, which is made so that the armor is entirely covered and dissimulated. People that believe to know her, think she's a skilled rogue, not fully affiliated to SI:7 but an adventurer.

Name:
Felicity Brighthammer
Age:
24
Race:
Human
Class:
Paladin
Felicity is the current heir to the Brighthammer family after her brother acceded to her. She's stern and buisness-like, but this is primarily from her being put into the expectant role of leading her family after her father dies and being constantly scrutinized by others. She hates being vulnerable but is still young, and as a result sometimes slips up though she is loathe to admit it.
She has long blonde hair she usually stuffs underneath her helm, which gives it an unkempt appearance most of the time. She wears steel plate armour and closed faced helm usually, though she has been known to forego most of it due to the weight unless she knows she is going into battle. She carries the Brighthammer family sword and shield, which she treasures greatly.

So I know I can get busy in real life some times, but I saw this RP the other day and was totally squeeing. I havn't been this excited about something in a while so I hope my character is accepted, I've got the perfect gal for this! Fits with her backstory and everything perfect.
~
Name: Faithbender Praey
Age: Mid-to-late twenties or so
Race: Troll
Class: Shadow Priest
Praey is a curvy troll priestess with bright azure skin, magenta dreads falling down her back and bright green eyes. She has runic tattoos all colours of the rainbow all over her body, including orange runes on her right brow and cheekbone, and left temple and jawline. She has dozens of piercings (her most notable being stretched lobes the size of fists and a gold piece sized lip plate) and wears bone, glass and metal in the holes. Praey wears flowing and sheer robes of light colours.
Praey is a professional herbalist and alchemist, spending her time cooped up at her shop in Undercity instead of going out adventuring. She is very skilled in potion and poison making, her main focus being in the underground trades, including illicit drugs as well as research and development for the New Plague.
Praey is seductive, playful and a little unbalanced. She enjoys taking risks, having fun, and making money (especially if she is having fun while making that money). Her loyalties lie to whoever is funding the project, though she would stand by the side of a friend no matter what.

Name:
Recruiter Graple
Age:
163
Race:
Dwarf
Class:
Rogue
All his life, Graple made a living doing whatever he had to, from honest work to thievery, and eventually acquired enough gold to move to Stormwind, seeking a better life for himself. However, upon arriving in Stormwind he was met with the same bad luck that had landed his parents in the slums, and one day found himself amongst Stormwind's undesirables. Needing to survive, he joined up with the first opportunity that presented itself; the Ebony Gang. Ebon saw a talent in the dwarf, and set him out as a recruiter. To the dwarf's surprise, Graple discovered he had a talent for persuading people seeking wealth for any purpose, and he quickly became one of Ebon's top employees.
He had a slick and oily black beard, and long, slicked-back hair. He is a little heavyset and his eyes are grey and his skin is somewhat pale, but the clothes he wears and hair that covers his face can make this difficult to discern. He carries a number of daggers on his person at all times, but concealed under his jacket. He is no master of stealth or speed, but has learned enough of the back alleys of Stormwind that he can slip away if being pursued.

Announcement:
Some good characters we've gathered so far. At this point, I'd like to inform everyone that the sign-up sheet will be closing this coming Tuesday, and that the RP proper will begin the Thursday following, giving me and Morec a day to split the groups up into two.
To anyone who has yet to introduce a character
: you have until then to sign them up to enter the RP. We will not be accepting any other sign-ups for the groups without consultation after that point. You may put forward one or more characters, but each player will only have one -- or perhaps two if they are put together in the same group -- characters.
If you have any questions, or aren't sure if your character would work here, you can either mention it here on the board, or email me at:
undeadjesterv1@hotmail.com
, and I will do my best to answer them.

Moar characters! Too few!
I know. I was hoping for a turnout of at least 5 characters for each side. So far, we have three.
I must say, I'm a little dissapoint L&RP Board.
And if you would rather contact me instead of One - for whatever reason - email
lordmorec@gmail.com
with whatever your concern is.

What's going to happen if there's too few of characters?
I wonder if people aren't joining simply because it's a 'closed' RP and maybe they are intimidated by that? If that's the case anyone who is reading this, don't be! You'd still be RPing with the great people on this board!

You misunderstand; the number of characters isn't "too few" in the sense that the RP wont be able to function propperly, but I was hoping for larger groups so there could be more intragroup interaction during the overall plot. Don't worry, the RP will begin and end as promised.
I suspect it may be due to a misunderstanding that the scope of this RP is limited to Stormwind, due to the introductions; you're point is also very valid as well, and it may very well be a combination of those two, or that people are already so deeply invested in others RPs (though breaking off of Fight for Life doesn't seem like it would be that hard).
All we can do, though, is hope.

We'll still do it. It will most likely just not be as many interactions among the group with less people playing. Though, if too few join then maybe we'll ask the current players to perhaps make one more character to fill out the groups a bit more.
