Are tanking specs still not so good in PvP?

My gametime ended shortly before the MoP pre-patch and I'm about to restart it again in a few days. I have no experience with the new talent trees yet, so I'm wondering if the tanking specs are still far from optimal in PvP.
I am aware that DK's Blood spec worked for pvp, though it was looked-down on, but I never use a DK; it's info on the other tanking classes' tank specs I'm interested in. Mainly I'm hoping Protection Paladin is now viable. If not I have some thinking to do.
Any info or links to info would be appreciated!

It's a great flag capper, but useless at anything else.
You do need one for isle of conquest and AV though.

Add AB and Gilneas to those. As a tank, especially if you have a good pocket healer, you can very effectively pressure bases. While the rest of your team deals with defending their bases, you can hit the least defended enemy base and hold it up for quite a while. It's a very good way to prevent the enemy team from zerging or to peel a lot of their men off other bases they are already zerging. You may not be able to single-handedly cap the base, but most people are oblivious to this fact. Support will rush to help defend it anyway.
Your results will vary in RBGs, but it works wonders in randoms. I've effectively held up to half the enemy team at a base before (with a pocket healer of course) while my team was pretty much free to dominate the other bases.

I don't think it's useless, I think you might find it not to be AS effective in dropping enemies in most PVP encounters.
What I mean is, as protection spec (back when the cap was 60 and here) I tend to utilize all of the resources at my disposal. You'd be amazed at how easily you can disrupt the other team and watch them die as NPC's or chaos takes over. Example in AV - I'll thunderclap, hamstring, and SURVIVE the hordes or horde going for our bosses. I might not cleave for a billion damage, but if I'm mitigating and dodging I'm a greatly annoying DoT that causes the enemy to waste time trying to kill me.

Tanks have their place if you remember that can you do a lot in Bgs without killing. Flag carrying and escorting in ctf maps, solo nod defending in CP maps, Protecting tanks in SotA, Tanking bosses in AV/IoC, etc...
If you are interested in any tank, go for the warrior.
DKs were good in the last season of Cata due to the absurd amount of damage they could do once their vengeance was capped, with was gutted mid season.
Of all the tanking specs, the warrior have the best selection of utility tools. Snare, AoE snare, the best mobility ( Yes I said it. Between Intervene, Double time and 30 second Leap coupled with a sprint, I believe that the warrior have more mobility than the druid ), Spell Reflect, AoE Spell Reflect, AoE damage debuff, AoE fear, AoE stun and so on, the warrior can create a lot of chaos in the middle of battle.
Add to the fact that with his survivability, the warrior CANNOT die ( It takes 3 determined dps to kill me ). So, he can stay where he is the most useful: in the centre of the melee.
I have been playing the warrior class across 8 arena seasons and I never had as much fun with him/her as I am having right now ( Yes. Even more than last season )
P.S: I heard good things about Brewmasters in terms of utility but their very active mitigation play style was overwhelming for me.
