So we lost stats. Do get them somewhere else?

So I'm back after a one year brake.
I noticed hunter no longer can use melee weapons.
That means we lost a huge income of stats. Did bows/guns get buffed instead or something else?
Kinda pissed that my melee weapon now is laying in my bag and just wasting a bag slot.

I believe the stats on guns/bows/xbows has been quite significantly increased. They should be on par with melee weapons for non-hunters now. Look on the bright side, it saves you getting a scope and a chant :)

I have slightly (un)related question.
From character sheet, it is unclear, if melee AP contributing to ranged AP. Is it, or is it the same stat now?

Ok, then I have other question: Why, when I add "Assault" enchants, my Ranged DPS increase?
Is Blizzard lying on me?
P.S.
The chart you mentioned does not include 5.x changes.

Because assault is just straight attack power, so it goes to both even though as Zakkhar said, there is no actual melee for hunters anymore.

AnrDaemon
So, it's the same stat, as I though initially?

No
There is "Attack Power" and "Ranged Attack power".
RAP is what is relevant for hunters, though anything that adds attack power also adds to RAP unless it specifically says melee attack power (nothing current should say that).

Okay, I know, I have exceptional ability to circle in confusion for a long time, irritating everyone, who dare try to enlighten me... let's take more straight course, than walking in circles.
If we speak of enchants exclusively, enchants like
Assault
or
Zandalar Signet of Might
contribute directly to RAP?

Yes; unless something specifically says Melee attack power on it, you will get Attack power to the ranged attack.
The easiest way to think of it is like this: Str = Melee attack power, Agility = Ranged/Melee attack power(depending on the class). So anything that only raises your melee attack power is completely and utterly useless as a Hunter, since Hunters can't melee anymore.

Thank you.

Too late, but for anyone who might still be confused:
For Hunters:
Agility feeds into Attack Power
Attack power determines melee attack power and ranged attack power
Hunters no longer have melee attacks
So anything that raises Agility or "Attack Power" will increase your Ranged Attack Power, but if you should find something that specifies "melee attack power" know that it does absolutely nothing for you.

I love not having to worry about getting a stat stick.. polearm etc, then having to get that darn enchant, scope.
I do miss Bullets / Arrows "ammunition"
, back in WotLK... making Arrows on my little engineer, it was epic.
History
I supplied loads of top raiders with Arrows
"ammunition"
back in WotLK, ... kinda miss the days where i grinded engineer stuff like that, to
wind
people up. Well it would when they wanted to charge crazy amounts of gold for them. I gave them away for free...
"giggles"
My pattern thing, got deleted.. "shocking" ...no more epic arrows ..
/sad Panda
...
Iceblade Arrow
I think us Engineers should get a Feat of Strength, for making these back then:
Gnomish engineer =
Iceblade Arrow
Goblin engineer =
Shatter Rounds
These items are no longer available within the game.
Epic ammo... how epic is that.. Yep these was epic items.

Attack power determines melee attack power and ranged attack power
Attack power doesnt determine anything (beside dps). I believe correct word in this context would be "modifies".
Way to unconfuse people.
Okay, now you're splitting hairs. I was just trying to make a quick and dirty explanation of which stat applies to what kind of attack, and show how "attack power" is not the same thing as "melee attack power", since that was what confused AnrDaemon in the first place.
