What's so great about Demonology?

note
: for some reason, the thread I made earlier was deleted
upon creation
, which confuses the hell out of me. So, second time's the charm?)
Now, I know the idea of "fun" is entirely subjective, yada yada yada, but hear me out first.
I've been playing exclusively Affliction and Destruction up until now, because for me Demonology doesn't appeal to my tastes; but lately, reading up about how you yourself can
turn into a demon
is really making me very interested in this hitherto untested spec.
Personally, I feel Destruction starts becoming "fun" at level 69, when you get
Backdraft
. Suddenly, I find myself being flooded with embers, and the sight of my Warlock unleashing fire (while being on fire himself) is bringing out my inner arsonist - it takes willpower to stop me from cackling madly.
On a similar vein, at 79 Affliction can
instantly apply its dots
with one spell, thus making the rotation a lot more enjoyable. Going with this logic, Demonology too, should have a late-game spell that ramps up the spec from "great" to "awesome".
So I ask you wowhead's demonologists, what is that spell? What is Demonology's signature move that makes you fall in love with the spec? "Sell" the spec to me, please. So far, in my point of view, the main DF generator has a
2.5s cast time
, which is a major drag to be honest. So what's so good about being a demon, eh?

lock13, that's nice haven't heard anyone mention the nice balance between dot and burst. I might give it a go. I'm an avid destro fan that's been meddling with affliction while questing out of curiosity. I ought to give demonology a spin soon! :)
Edit: Not sold though ;)

Another thing I love about demonology is that it's always been in the top AoE specs across all classes. What's not to love about that :-)
Plus everything the other posters have said. When you've "lined up the stars" doing a perfect rotation, and all your CD are up at the same time, I find it very satisfying (and effective !)
Although I've always played and loved demo, It has often been a clunky spec ; much less by now, imho.

I only used Affliction before for PvE and Destro for PvP.
Now I use Demonlogy for both.
I don't know what they did with Affliction during cataclysm but when I came back to wow a week ago and did everything in my power to try the new way to play affliction, I just sucked so bad on it.
Same with destro.
Demonlogy was totally new for me but I learned it pretty fast and being a demon is just f#"4# awesome.
Also nuking a random world elite with a horde of demons is so much fun. Just gather up around seven or eight wild imps, pop imp swarm, grimore of service, metamorphis = 15-16 demons nuking the poor world elite xD (myself included)

I really like demo for pve, either just questing or raiding, I love it.
Though sometimes I still prefer to use affliction, as it is still a bit better than demo for single target. Plus, you don't have to build demonic fury in case you need burst in the beginning of a fight.
Although I have never really tried demo for pvp. Considering the long shadow bolt, slow building demonic fury, I never saw the reason to try it. Even more now that they nerfed the auras, which were so damn good, both in cost, and range (if you took Mannoroth's Fury).

I've played a demo Warlock since the end of Vanilla (or some combination of demo, such as Soul Link/Siphon Life build during BC) and honestly, I'd say it's easily the most complex of the three specs to play, especially when it's time to hit the burn, pop your cooldowns and go to town.
However, I've noticed especially in solo PvP and all PvP that a well geared, knowledgeable Demonology Warlock is capable of horrifying displays of power and survival. For example, today with my iLevel 475 geared Demo Warlock, I was doing the final quest chain of the Klaxxi faction in Dread Wastes, ran into a group of 20 equal level, regular strength (370k-399k hp each) enemies by myself, blew all my cooldowns and killed all 20 of them by myself. Granted, I barely survived but I won. Destruction or Affliction simply cannot do that. In fact, I can't think of any other class or spec that can.
Oh, and once you get decently PvP geared, attempts to kill you in arenas and battlegrounds become a joke. If you've got a healer or two as a flag carrier, you're essentially unkillable even with the entire enemy team on you.
That being said, Demonology is not easy to play properly to it's maximum potential. Easy to learn, difficult to master, moreso than some might think.

All of which get brutally massacred if they try.

Um, not really; in good enough gear against same level mobs, all of those classes can survive and destroy the mob packs just fine. The only time I really run into any issue on my Blood DK is if I get stun locked; other then that, I usually just leave a mob pack at nearly full health. Was the same back in Wrath with my warrior, and now a days with the Victory Rush buff where you get health back every time you use it, it's nearly impossible to put down a prot warrior questing wise. And for the Brewmaster, while I was on Beta, the very first section of the original Jade forest where you had a massive stream of Hozen coming at you down the path I used to gather up 20-30 and just Spinning Crane Kick them down while hitting Guard, Expel Harm and whatever else I needed. If you know how to play the class and spec, you can be 'overpowered' as often as you want.
