So one DOES simply walk into Mordor...

Earlier today, I had an insane idea: instead of getting my level 77 hunter up to level 79 or 80 and doing the appropriate quests to get to Mount Hyjal, why not spend hours trying to find a way to walk in? The map shows a road leading from the easternmost bits of the zone into Winterspring, right? Well, I found the path... sort of. It requires going to Winterspring and then suiciding near Frostwhisper Gorge. If you do that, and you're lucky, you'll end up in a graveyard on the other side of the gorge. Ask the spirit healer to resurrect you, and you will be able to literally walk into Mount Hyjal - no Warchief's Command board, no portals to Moonglade, no dragon rides.
And I did it all for the
pet battle achievements
.

Or you could simply fly there if you had flight master's license at level 60.

This is the guy who deletes his toons if he accidentally kills a critter. I suspect buying the flight license is "not the way he wants to play" the game.

You can get
anywhere
by just flying. Nobody in LotR said "one does not simply fly into Mordor", and nobody is impressed by "I found a way to fly into a zone that is designed to be accessible by flying".
As for why I felt the need to walk in...

Old Weather Flying is only available to those who have purchased Cat, and I'm only up to Wrath.

Wrong. Right now, I'm eagerly anticipating the day when I can get a free 10-day trial of Cat so I can get Old Weather Flying. It would make farming nodes in EK and Kalimdor SO much easier!

Then you'll be waiting in vain; the current 7 day trials are for Mists; they don't give out Cata ones anymore.
