Would I be correct in assuming you're currently in the US? All the EU realms have the same server time (afaik) and you can play on all of them using the same (EU) client. The latter means you can freely pick between f.e. EU English or EU German realms without changing or patching the client. The client language is separate from server language so you could play with an English language client on a German realm or the other way around if you wanted to.
You could play there before you move, yes, but you'd need an EU account and client.

Well why not ask your boyfriend/fiance what to do, since you're probably moving there for him in the first place and are playing WoW because he does?

All the EU realms have the same server time (afaik)Almost correct, they do follow the time zone for the country they're intended for, English (and I guess French and Spanish) ones are GMT, German (and likely Italian) ones are GMT+1. Unsure which time zone Russian ones are, but that doesn't matter here anyway ;)
Otherwise correct though, you can use the enGB Client on deDE realms, and actually that client is identical to the enUS one except the realmlist file (though unless you bring over your computer, it doesn't matter)
Learning German via WoW.... just be advised that the German locale uses some very... 'creative' 'translations'.

The English zones are definitely CET (Central European Time) and are GMT+1 so I would assume that the French and Spanish ones are as well. You can set the clock to show either realm time or local time which is where I think the confusion arises.

Really? No time to check that since I have to head for work soon, but hmm, just noticed France (server location) is GMT+1, too, so it could be true.

Yes it definitely is as I still occasionally get myself confused and turn up an hour late for something as I play on an EU English server and my local time is an hour behind server time.

I lived in Germany for about a year and a half and I continued to play on US realms... My latency was about 200-400ms which isn't bad for a casual player and okay for PvP.
If you DO want to play on EU realms, you can find batch scripts to switch your realmlist file back and forth between EU and US servers and I had no problem playing on EU realms with my US client. (I didn't have to download a whole different version, but I did have to purchase an EU licence).
