Yeah- I don't think there's any perception of one class being more "respected" than another. If anything, there may be the perception that certain classes are more attractive to brand new players, and so have a higher than average percentage of really bad players, but when evaluating decent players, class choice doesn't really factor in. It's the ability to play the class you chose which is respected.

Back in vanilla, it was the warrior class.
If you wanted to raid, you had to have good tanks, and it was a given back then that only warriors could be good tanks.
