They are referring to the waves crashing, but they use the phrase "the roar of the ocean" to express that.
hehehe, technically then, its not the ocean that's roaring, its whatever the waves are crashing into that produces the noise.
A storm of some kind, then? A hurricane or tornado?
You're getting close, but not quite there yet.
Edit: come on, you can do it ;) I BELIEVE IN YOU.

DING DING DING DING! WE GOT A WINNER.
Sorry El, someone beat you to it :P
The answer is avalanche, but landslides count too. Any time rocks fall off a mountain or ice falls off a mountain, it creates a thunderous rumble that can be heard from miles. Needless to say they kill anything and anyone along the way, and will do so by burying you in tons of rock or ice.
And of course they have no teeth or tongue.

BZZZ WRONG. The roof on your head is made out of Earth and Rock, and its useful to protect you from the sun and bad weather ect.
Rock can be useful when placed above other things.

BOO, nobody answered me my riddle.
Its a Desk Mat.
Here's a new one: Having one is handy, having two is an inconvenience.
what is it?

Left feet?

BZZZ nope. :P
Hint: its not a body-part, its an object.
Edit. I guess this one is harder than it should be in english. See, one of the words on the riddle is a pun in spanish that hints (or at least narrows it down) at the solution, But the pun is almost non-existent in english.

Well, the answer was a Baseball Glove.
=/
the hint on the riddle was the word "handy" since it signals that its something related to your hands, however its a lot less evident in english than it is in spanish because the pun isn't so clear.

OK here's another one (almost nobody seems interested in figuring them out, but I can still try to get this rolling)

If you know me, you'll want to share me, BUT if you share me, then I'll be gone. What am I?
