So I had this car. It was a great car, looked nice, comfortable. Only problem was that occasionally the engine would sputter and stop for no reason. One minute everything was fine, it had fuel in the tank, and the next minute, the fiuel gauge dropped to "E" and I was stuck on the side of the road. So frustrating. I thought there was some weird intermittent leak in the fuel tank or some problem with the fuel lines. I took it to mechanics and asked them to check over the fuel system, and they'd look it over and say, "well, we didn't really find anything wrong except for minor stuff, you should be good." Then a couple weeks later, again I'd be stuck on the side of the road with no fuel.
Finally I took it to a new mechanic, and he said, "oh! I found the problem! Your engine is fine, your fuel system is fine, everything's good, it's just that the dashboard mechanism that controls the fuel gauge readout got stuck sometimes. You thought you had fuel, but actually you ran out of fuel. I replaced that mechanism."
Immediately I was upset. "Wait, you're telling me that all those times my engine stopped working, I just ran out of fuel?! I get fuel all the time! That's impossible. Why didn't the other mechanics see this? I don't believe you, there must be some other problem."
He's like, "Nope, trust me, you just ran out of fuel whenever you had problems. I saw the issue with the dashboard gauge. It's fixed now."
I was livid. I can't believe that mechanic accused me of not knowing how to read the fuel gauge properly. I know the engine had fuel. I just had to put in more fuel to restart the engine because of some leak or something.
Never saw that mechanic again. I can't believe he had the ill manners to tell me I didn't know enough to put fuel in my car. The car stopped breaking down after that, anyway.

I understand where you're going with this parable but not 100% sure it's giving the warm-fuzzy-caring response those of us stuck with hundreds of lost days are looking for.
It was a grind get to 365, watching the counter bounce around, never sure what the real number was (oh yeah, and losing days, going back to zero SEVERAL times). And then - a light! Someone is going to fix the problem, only the fix was more catastrophic than the problem. (As a reminder, I went from +/- 390 (hard to tell because in any given day the number would jump around a bit) to 30, then 4, then 32 when I logged on to post a comment in this thread, and then 8 when I double-checked the number for my post. I'm now up to 15)
Compound that with a communication glitch and there will be frustration far outweighing the actual incident (after all, we ONLY lost number on a counter on a website, it's not like our homes got destroyed or our families are gone BUT this is/was something we cared enough about to invest time and effort into - and now it's all gone).
And the communication glitches continue - with this parable as, perhaps, an olive branch? But it comes off as smirky and superior "You see how silly you are being, throwing tantrums like spoiled children. You see how unfair it was of me to throw tantrums at the mechanic who ultimately fixed my problem. I was in the wrong, as you are. Of COURSE it's your fault and once you cool down you'll see that."
I hope your customer service staff steps in, makes a decision to address the users' concerns and you are able to retire from the fray. You seem to be an amazing programmer, I imagine Wowhead will be hugely benefited if you were able to focus solely on that and not having to interface here on the forums. I appreciate your fix and like being able to see how I'm doing. Now maybe I can get my husband to try for the achievement (he gave up after getting bounced to zero a couple of times).
Thanks for your hard work.

I feel like this thread is getting out of hand so I'm going to step in, lock it, and offer a complete resolution :)
So basically, the issue really is this: we can't give you extra days. We don't have that in place, and that will more than likely break your count at some point if we do, so it's not an option.
The fix that was posted by Erorus fixed this bug from happening ever again--but it also removed all issues where it had happened and had been 'fixed' prior. The previous fix from 2012 wasn't long lasting as you guys saw: it broke during Daylight's Saving time. So that fix from a year ago simply wasn't solid and caused these exact issues. While the current fix is solid, it also removes last year's hack fix and is what caused this day loss.
What I can say however is that if you log in for 100 more days Nooksa, I will manually grant you the achievement if you ping me in 100 days. It's not as fun as earning it, but due to the bug, you can't earn it the way you normally would. This way while your display is inaccurate, your progress towards the achievement isn't.
Anyone else who was affected should feel free to email me directly (ashelia@wowhead.com) so I can make sure your achievement comes on the right day rather than what the system says is th eright day.
I would be willing to do the achievement in ~80 days for Margeurite and so on as well :)
Because quite honestly, if you had days up until now and you missed a day back in say November 2012...the system should have told you on that day! Losing six months is disheartening and unfair to a user, regardless if they truly missed a day or not, and it is our fault entirely. You are being punished by a fix, and that was never our fix's intention. So I am willing to give a free day and make sure you're still on track for your achievement because it is incredibly disheartening to work towards an achievement and find out you failed months ago without an alert. I am sorry this happened.
So yeah, please email me your account if you posted in this thread and found out you missed a day months after the fact. We can create a way to make sure you get your achievement on the day you were supposed to barring this site fix and while it won't be perfect, it should reward your awesome effort of logging in daily. :)(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Ashelia##DELIM##
