at least the game designers are. wow is down to just over 9 millions according to the financial report 2012, and what are they doing in 2013? making the game more obnoxious. in sorrow marsh you had those big birds, swampstriders that were neutral, yellow, as you had those swines in the blasted lands. also yellow. it gave the players some room to move around without getting constantly harassed by unwelcome mobs. both are now red and even more hostile than other mobs. at least if you compare them with crorokolisks. now, those are my kind of beasties. if you're even of equal level they just leave you alone unless you step on them. i wish there were more of those!

Weird tangent is tangential. Is your opinion that Blizzard, as a company, is trying to kill itself, or is your opinion that we need more creatures that serve no purpose other than those quests that require us to collect their meat?
Subscribers might be down in number, but that's normal and expected. That equates to around a billion dollars every year, which is hardly Blizzard dying. Sure, that's not that billion and a half or so at the height of the game, but the game still makes unbelievable amounts of money.
I might agree that some zones have far too many mobs that want to kill us, making travel next to impossible without a fight or two, I would much rather have those than non-threatening monsters that do nothing other than eat CPU and graphics.

Everquest is still going and it launched in 1999, if you want a look at the future of WoW look there.
8 million is still amazing.

first look up the word polemics, you might learn something
second, yes, i could do with more neutral mobs. so sue me.

Since it's laughably easy to move around mob packs, this seems to be a personal issue rather then a game play issue.

LOL.
CRZ
Gear gated behind Rep/Dailies
Low Pop Servers
and you complain about some mobs not being yellow any more?
This really does show that people will complain about anything, no matter how minuscule. Other than that, I think you're just having a laugh. 5/10 for that.
Cheers.

i'm always in for a good laugh, and i do enjoy complaining about what i don't like in wow. but that is because i enjoy the game immensely and i find even little defaults disturbing. i know it will never be perfect, nothing is, but that does not stop me from trying. and i do believe that the game could do with more neutral mobs. i hate having to fight every stupid mob even if i don't feel like it. maybe it is my age and young people enjoy it more. you tell me.

You don't have to fight every mob. Most of them you can avoid pretty easily. Next level up of difficulty is pausing to CC them and then going past them. Or there's always just running past and outrunning them until they drop aggro.
Of all the issues in the game, this one's remarkably petty.

TBH when I first started playing WoW, I hated how aggro worked. I came from EQ2, where mobs were less likely to aggro, and almost no aggro once you got a level or two above the mob.
I still find it funny that a level 5 Defias will attack my level 90 if it wanders too close to me. But it's one of the things I've learned to accept about a game that otherwise has kept me interested for going on 7 years now.

So are you blaming sub losses in the last year on the reclassification of a few mobs from neutral to aggressive?
If so that is the most novel reason I have ever read, ridiculous for sure but novel none the less.

Call me crazy, but if there were tons of yellow mobs just roaming around, wouldn't that make things a little dull? I kind of like being out there, doing my own thing whatever it may be, all of a sudden "OH CRAP" here comes 2 or 3 mobs I wasn't paying attention, fight's on baby! I think WoW would be incredibly boring if you had to go actively searching the things that are hostile, it's way more fun to never really know when one's gonna spawn all up on you and you're not on your guard.

so far none of you denied being young. would that be a pattern?

What do you consider young? I'm by no means young, but I'm not old yet. Let's just say I'm old enough to remember the 80's.

They totally don't aggro at 10+ levels, they actually cower in your presence.
Grays don't aggro, as it should be.
Any other mechanic is there as an annoyance factor if you long outlevel the area.

Several of us are positively ancient as far as MMO gamers go. Beware of false assumptions. I for one started gaming with D&D, was well into high school before my family got a computer, a Commodore 64, and my first computer games were text based adventures, Zork being my favourite.
I am of the opinion that there isn't enough danger and there aren't enough impediments in travelling through Azeroth. Mob density has been nerfed to ludicrosity, and I consider that changing the mobs in starting areas from aggressive to neutral was a terrible mistake.
You should have to make decisions as you travel about, and blundering from point A to point B ought to have consequences. Sorry, but I don't support further dumbing down the game.

that makes you then almost as old as i am. but notice it was a question, whether the preference for many hostile mobs was age dependent. generalization is the main way for (human) brains to learn, the other being how to allow for exceptions. the latter is the trickiest part, and some people never quite get the hang of it. .
but all in all, there are too many hostile mobs in too many places for my taste, even if that is not the case for you. but beware of drawing my position to extremes and making me look like i want an empty field with only neutral or friendly mobs. it is all in the balance, i find it skewed, you don't. end of discussion.

There's been little discussion that I can see thus far and discussions are over when the thread is either abandoned or locked. Original post was a rant, contained no question and you've been aggressive to those that bothered to respond. You may be older than I and considerably older than most of the other forum goers, but have demonstrated unfortunately that age isn't everything. Many of the younger posters display far more tact, wisdom and grace as an example.

I am over 50 so while I don't think I am old I am certainly not young .
look at it this way - the more mobs you kill the more loot you get to sell . Red mobs don't bother me at all
