People need to know that being a tank in a guild is harder then anything else.Because the good guild that do bt and from 2.4 Sp only need 2-3 warrior as tank.If the dps and the healers come and go all guilds like to have a tank that is going to "bleed" for this guild and is not going to leave with the fist wave.So generally the tank are people that the guild has a lot of trust and are there for a long time.
An other aspect is that is hard to gear up a tank so u don't want to use on people that are going to leave and there is no raid without a good gear tank.
That is important that you follow the advice Yakra tell here.(i want to thx u for this guide, great ideea )
I am a tank for a long time and i can say if u have seek people that want to do kill and try new boss then there u should be.
So be aware that u need to chose a good guild that wants to grow a good tank.
Btw i quit playing for a while but u can check my gear on

... focus on good practice - outland's dungeons are great training grounds for skills you'll need during your level 70 tanking career.
I couldn't agree more!

I only recently made a wowhead account. I've been a tank since open-beta and personally I could debate some stuff with you guys, but overall this is one of the best guides for a beginning warrior I've ever read. Just wish there had been more of these when I was starting out.
I also whole heartedly agree with the above couple posts. Practice is the best thing you can do. Find a group of people you get along with and be their tank. In the long run it will help you if the group you run with is diverse and/or there's more than one group of people you can tank for, but otherwise some practice is better than none.
To ironmike specifically, since you're wondering about your stats, Yakra's suggestion would be the best for you. At that level you mostly just need to worry about your stam. Most of the other stats will come with the better tanking pieces you'll find in Outland.

Lol, good call Gengetsu! It was such a riot when I refreshed the page & was like, "Holy cow!"
I vote we leave it just the way it is on the front page -- I'll revise mine all over again & we can match,=0

Though I never intend to tank anything above 5-man on my warrior, I've been playing him as protection since my first talent point, and, as such, many of your tips are still applicable/helpful to my play style. Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this guide together. (=

Can you explain this:
Head - provides the most effective health, and reduces the amount of defence skill you need to 477
If I get that glyph, I only need 477 def rating?

The reason behind 490 defense, is that it decreases your chance to be critically hit by 5.6% - enough to not be crit by monsters.
Part of resilience, is that it reduces your chance to be critically hit. The % chance from these two stack. The resilience from Glyph of the Gladiator is enough that you only need 477 Def rating to achieve a total of 5.6% less chance to be critically hit. (but don't trust me, mouse over resilience and defense on your character sheet).
Resilience is unfavorable as a main source of crit reduction, because it is an "expensive" stat to have on an (as far as item budgets go), and because the "reduces damage from critical strikes" part is completely worthless if you can't be crit in the first place. This is just a case where the 18 stamina part is very worthwhile, and the resilience may as well be utilized (as is the case with using a PvP shield).
Ok... I'm confused. In the other thread:
In short, Glyph of the Gladiator is for higher effective health. It sacrifices defense rating or other stats available on helms in order to obtain it. It has a side effect of adding some crit reduction, but it is not a replacement for defense rating.
If, and by your own admission, you are, close to 490 defense, I recommend keeping the Glyph of the Defender. It gives you some breathing room to prevent from dipping below if you change another piece of gear.
For the most part, Gladiator is more of a special enchant & I recommend it only for those who know when they can use it, or should. For example, someone who can't get 490 defense at all (because their gear is so random or they don't have a full tanking suit yet), it can be useful to prevent crit immunity.
All resilience does is reduce the chance to be critically hit (which means reducing critical hit damage is irrelevant). So, if you are incapable of obtaining 490 defense, then the Gladiator glyph may be helpful.
I have no problem getting 490 def. My current tank set has me at 494. If I replace my Defender Glyph with the Gladiator one, I get better stamina, though... and I'd like to stack as much as I can.
Is this a wise move? The calculator he linked says I get more "bang for the buck" on my resilience rating points.than the defense ones. Are they interchangeable? Can I just follow the equation and start replacing some of the +def gear with +stm since I already have like 48 resil?

Removing defense is not recommended. Any minor gains in stamina will be lost through the lowered avoidance. Avoidance can directly increase your time to live, just as armor increases the value of stamina.
The decision is quite simple: do you need the defense rating? For Karazhan, you will. For now, while you use the S1 shield, you can dip down to 477 defense. As long as you're crit immune without the helm enchants, you will be crit immune afterwards. Determine that & then you can pick whichever helm enchant you want.
