The man in the ski-mask jumped in surprise as someone grabbed for his gun. He threw a punch at Saito with his free hand to distract him, then jumped backwards in an attempt to dislodge Cecil.
With a final gasp, Asher's vision went completely black.

Crap.
Asher got to his feet under an angry red sky. Clouds had formed overhead, which combined with the low light gave the impression that he was underground. Buildings rose into the sky around him, their exteriors cracked, faded and scarred. As he turned in place, inspecting the new scene, he caught sight of something written on the wall directly behind where he had entered.
He took a step closer, allowing it to come into focus in the low light. It said only one thing.
Run.
Off in the distance, a sound ripped through the air like the growl of an angry predator: the starting of a chainsaw.
Without another thought, Asher turned and ran.

Saito hit the ice, his vision blurred, everything in the room indistinguishable under a haze of pain and nausea.

The slight figure in the mask agilely rolled out of the way of the descending hand. They remained low to the ground, legs bowed, as they swiftly removed their gloves and stowed them away. Waiting until the creature's hand had struck the ground once more, the masked character rushed forward, jumping onto to the back of its hand and clawing for a grip with their pale hands.

It was like grabbing at a mass of knotted, loose string that wriggled and jumped like it was faintly electrified. The creature moaned, raising its hand and turning it, giving it a slow shake to try and dislodge them.

Cecil was dragged along, refusing to relinquish the weapon.

The masked figure continued to climb, finding handholds in the knots of the creature's 'skin', seemingly unphased by being forced upside down. Where his hands touched, it left a burning sensation, steadily worsening the longer the fox-masked figure held on.

He reached over his shoulder and scrabbled at Cecil's face, going for his eyes.

Around the corner behind him, a figure emerged. It was about the same size as him, wearing jeans and a bloodstained hoodie. The hood was up, and its face was covered with a sad opera mask.
But, most importantly, a chainsaw bucked and snarled in its hands.
Asher resumed his frantic running, hearing the sound of the saw grow slowly louder. As he rounded the corner, he nearly came to a stop. The sudden change in his pace tripped him up, forcing him to grab onto the wall. Ahead of him, he saw what seemed to be a building that had been split in twain, with what appeared to be a fight going on inside.
Seeing no other options, he began running for it.

Again the monster moaned. It staggered, and swung its arms into what remained of the building to dislodge the climber.

The masked character grunted, pain ripping through them as they collided with the wall. Rubble crashed down upon their backside and they hissed, one of their hands dangling at their side after it was struck from the creature's hide. Precariously they swung, before throwing up the hand once more to try and continue climbing towards its head.
Burning soon turned to itching, itching to throbbing, throbbing to gnawing, as the sensations crawled and bloated and spread.

The man started to get to his feet, obviously more steady than the other two on the ice. As he did so, he frantically fired three shots split between Saito and Cecil, then turned and scrabbled out the door.
The man jumped into the car after the professor, which squealed away into the night.

Asher's eyes widened as he saw some...
thing
locked in combat with a masked kid. Wanting to have no part in it, he continued on by, gasping in fear as the chainsaw wielding maniac burst into the room after him.

"Oi! Gerrof!" Crassus shoved Tell off him and scrambled to his feet. He paused, aghast. "You bloody &*!@#!" he swore, looking at his now dirty coat. "Th' things worth fourteen grand!"
The men from before took aim at Janet, only for Jonathon to stop in the way. He braced as the bullets flew, smashing into him and ricocheting off without any effect. Crassus ducked as stray bullets pinged around him. "Oi! Oiii! Stoppit! Stoppit ya bloody !@#$s!"

Saito jumped as a crack exploded the ice next to him as he rolled to the side, only to feel a sharp pain ram through his shoulder. He snapped his head to the side, vision still blurry, but saw the man in the mask had already vanished beyond the doorway.

Twisted steel tore into their garments, bleeding crimson into the already stained fabric. Yet, they refused to give up, reaching the creature's shoulder and vaulting towards its head. They landed on their knees, clawing into its scalp and crawling towards the front of its head, and when they reached it, unceremoniously plunged their hands into its eyes.

It was like reaching into the glow of a fire. Warm, cool, insubstantial. The creature moaned without a mouth and rolled its head as if in pain.

As the last one got away, silence fell over the house. It looked like a scene from a horror movie: the ice was cracked, shattered. Blood had been spattered liberally over the walls and bullet cases littered the floor, along with one other thing- a phone.

As Asher exited the other side of the building, he came upon what seemed to be an apartment complex. Most importantly, however, he spotted a balcony about fifteen feet up. With a leap, his arms extended and grabbed onto the rail. He hauled himself up, swinging his leg over the edge, but not quite fast enough.
With a shrieking noise, the saw swept over his leg, leaving a huge gash and tearing open his shoe. He cried out in pain, but pulled it up and over. The

below him let out a frustrated scream, then turned and slouched off along the street.

Lethargy set in next, cold weakness chilling to the bone. Excruciating pain as the insides roiled and seemed to be torn apart from the inside out. The masked attacker remained silent as death in concentration, pouring every effort into not being thrown from the backside of the creature.

Erin groaned, picking herself up anew and shaking her head. "Ow..." She managed, standing.
Janet "Jayjay" Boom

Jayjay forced her hand to rise, gun gripped right as she took aim at Crassus. Her vision slowly blurred, the world growing dark as she struggeled to stay conscious. The taste of copper filled her mouth, blood flowing liberally from her lips and gums.
"#$%^ you!" She shouted, firing a bullet at the man's head.

Crassus glanced up at the girls face and looked down the barrel of a gun. "@#$%!" One of his rings flashed, and vanished. The bullet sang from Jayjay's gun, then shrieked as it rebounded off a snow plow blade still raining dollar signs. Once more the security men stopped firing, but this time Jonathon reached down and with one hand, scooped up Janet, with his other Tell, and with one under each arm, turned and began to run away.

Asher, after ensuring that it had left, let out a sigh of relief and slumped down. After binding his leg and taking a few minutes of just breathing quietly, he eventually got back to his feet and tried the balcony door. To his surprise, it swung open quietly, giving him a view of a darkened room. A door stood to his right and one straight ahead. A couch was set up against one wall, and trash strewn about the floor.
Warily, he stepped inside. Nothing immediately jumped at him, which he took as a good sign. He cautiously opened the door to the right, revealing a kitchen area. Most of it had been splattered with blood, and the words
Better luck next time
had been scribbled onto the table.
Shuddering, he stepped back and opened the other door, which let him out into a hallway with doors dotting both sides down the entire length. He stepped out slowly and felt a deep, nauseating cold permeate the whole building. It felt... wrong, as if the apartment building was sick and dying.

Saito's vision started clearing some time after the room went silent, aside from the creaking of cracking ice and their heavy breathing.
"H-hey, th-that's where it ended up," he muttered, reaching for his earbud, arm trembling as he winced in pain as his shoulder leaked blood.

The masked figure waited until the dust settled to drop down from the creature's backside. They removed their gloves and carefully put them back on.

Erin sighed, nearly falling over as she stumbled. "We got our asses kicked..." She admitted, surveying the scene.
Janet "Jayjay" Boom

"Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater!" Janet shouted, even as she was hefted into the air.
Coughing, she raised her hand, prepared to ward off any bullets fired their way. The world was blurring, however; blood now filling her throat.

The room was dim, and quiet. Wires ran along the walls, snaking from massive racks of computers and along the floor like snakes, wrapping together and merging into larger images of themselves.
Each gave a feint glow, lines of power glittering along them as they flowed towards the center of the room. There, then vanished beneath a small pillar. The top of the pillar was a large black screen, which slowly flickered to life.
A map of Takaneko City spread out, composed of dozens of satellite images, flickering as they updated in real time. Red dots tinted section of the map, anomalous sections.
The silence began to fade, the computers throughout the room beginning to hum. The noise grew louder as they sprang to life; working in unison. The wires glowed brighter, power bursting through them and into the pillar, which itself began to glow much brighter.
The humming grew in volume, the entire room beginning to shake. Sparks flew from wires and shelves threatened to dump their contents, a blinding white light filling the room.
And then, with a sudden flash, the light vanished. The wires ceased their glow, the map was gone, the hum died as suddenly as it had begun. And the room was once more silent.
A light appeared on the pillar, tiny as it darted about the screen.
