He rubbed his head, "And maybe? Gonna be honest, wasn't paying much attention to where I was when I found a guy practically dead."

"I feel great for being practically dead," Asher said with a weak smile. Once again, he was assaulted by memories: a sudden crash, the weightlessness of a fall, the sensation of several shelves smashing his chest...

"What are the odds?" Saito replied humorlessly, his expression a mask.
"Have you taken the subway, as of late?" the doctor questioned, a smug grin practically plastered across his face.
The boy twitched, the fingers of one hand curling into a tight fist as if he were ready to punch something within arm's reach. Saito grabbed his phone, using it as an idle distraction for his hands.
"Anyway, looks like they're probably gonna let you go soon. And, uh, try not to let them in on the fact you just met me, you hear?" he glanced over the top of his phone as Asher.

Erin watched; unimpressed. She watched on regardless, however; unsure why. It wasn't his tricks, but rather something about them that peaked her interest. The Irish woman narrowed her eyes, watching closer.

The skittering never let up. And soon it was joined by screeching. Like distorted voices, echoing out like people in pure agony. The girl was running now, excited demeanor failing her as she glanced over her shoulder.
The hall behind her was little more than inky blackness, as if it were consuming everything in its path in a quest for her. The screams continued, words beginning to form in them.
"There she is!"
"Take the !@#$% down!"
"Come out with your hands up, Boom!"
Her eye twitched at the last one, memories echoing in her mind. The voices, the last voices she had heard in her old life. The life before she got a second chance. And the final one, the sound of her last name, a pang of pure anger shivered through her.
"My name!" She screamed, swinging round and raising the minigun as she continued back-peddling. "Is Jayjay!"
Her finger pulled the trigger down, the sweet feeling of the recoil echoing through her arms, shaking them as she struggeled to keep the weapon from firing high. Words stopped, the screams becoming garbled into incoherent rage.
The blackness seemed to pulse, growing faster as it reached for the blue-haired girl. She danced backwards, out a window and onto the fire-escape.
She stopped, raising onto the railing and facing the growing darkness. Her grin returned, and she looked down at the ground three stories below. She would never hit it though, somehow she knew that.
"Well, it's been real, it's been fun." She chuckled, spreading her arms. "But not quite real fun." With that, Janet "Jayjay" Boom tossed herself backwards, falling slowly. The world faded, twirling and melting away from her.
She never hit the ground, three stories below.

"Good," Saito replied, flicking his eyes from Asher to the door as it opened up, admitting the trio of hospital staff. One of the nurses pushed in a cart of food, wheeling it up to the boy's bedside. The doctor was conversing with the other woman in a hushed voice, pointing at his clipboard and to some of the machines scattered about the room. Through it all, Saito had sunk back into the chair, earbuds in, and waited.

Asher thanked the doctors and, seized by a sudden hunger, began to eat. He focused completely on the food, attempting to force the... nightmare? Hallucination?
Whatever that had been, he didn't want to think about it.

Janet "Jayjay" Boom

A groan escaped her lips. A dripping sound thrummed in her head. The dripping of water. Slowly, she pried her eyes open, gazing out into the dimly lit room. A leaking water heater wasn't far from her.
Had it been leaking before? She wasn't sure.
Slowly, Jayjay sat up. There was something metallic in her mouth, she loosened it from the roof with her tongue, spitting.
The bullet clattered onto the ground. Blinking, her gaze moved to her hand, still gripping her pistol.
Right, that idea.
"Well that didn't work out so well..." She commented.

"We've gone over everything, Mr. Hansen, and your recovery is truly miraculous. You suffered numerous bone fractures and broken ribs, one of which may have damaged your lungs. Your condition should have been fatal, but it seems as if you will just fine," the doctor stated. "Luck appears to have been on your side. We'll only keep you here for a bit longer in order to allow you time to get your bearings and fill out the remaining paperwork for your release."

," Saito muttered under his breath.
"Mr. Saito?"
"Eh!?" he flinched, before cutting off his music and hurriedly nodding. "Right, yeah. Can totally do that. We can grab his stuff too, right?"
"Of course, just come with me and we'll get this all sorted out."
Saito stuffed his phone and cords into his pocket before following the doctor out the door, giving Asher an uncanny grin and a thumbs up on the way out.

Something makes me think luck has nothing to do with it,
Asher thought, returning Saito's grin half heartedly and climbing out of the bed. He stood up, letting feeling return to his legs while he waited for the doctor to return.

Saito and the doctor returned some time later, the former with a standard issue duffel bag, slapped with the hospital's logo, hung over his shoulder and the latter with another stack of papers attached to his clipboard.
"Well it looks like everything is in order for you, Mr. Hansen. We won't rush you out, but we'll need you to leave before tomorrow. Not that that should be a problem, I doubt you want to be here much longer," the doctor stated. "We wish you the best."
And with that, he gestured for the nurses, who also chorused off their goodbyes before following their superior out the door, leaving the two boys alone once again.
Saito held out the bag, "Got a change of clothes in here. Stuff you were wearing when you came in really didn't survive your horrible mutilation."

"I'm not surprised," Asher said with a snort, taking the bag and vanishing into the bathroom. He returned a few minutes later in a blue shirt, dark grey jacket and brown jeans. "Do you still have my wallet?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Saito tipped his head with a smirk, procuring the item in question from within the confines of his jacket and held it aloft between two fingers, "Clever and correct."
"Are you going to taunt the poor man after he just survived practically dying? Heartless, that's what you are," said the doctor, who had apparently decided to hang up his uniform, as if he were about to head home for the evening.
"Okay, I swear, if you don't shut up already I am going to drive my fist so far up your--" the teen snapped to looked behind him, only cutting himself off after realizing what he was doing. Saito exhaled shakily, attempting to reclaim his previous demeanor by tossing the wallet over to Asher as a momentary distraction. "Was going to be my insurance in case you decided to out me."

"And what's this?" he asked, pulling forth yet another cat. "A persian longhair. And this, a hypoallergenic hairless! Oh my God. Oh my God! Where are all these cats coming form!" He tipped his hat over, and cats poured end over end on to the ground in a flood. Where before there had been amazement, there now was uneasiness as the crowd shuffled warily back. "Look at them! Look at all of these cats? Oh! Oh! Where are they coming from? Cats! Cats!" He threw up his hands, each holding a feline and screamed at the sky. "

Erin took a step back, unsure what to make of the display. "I... what?" She wondered. Moving, she made her way onto the stage, reaching out and grabbing for the man's arm.
Janet "Jayjay" Boom

Slowly, Janet ascended the stairs, making her way out into the mid-day glow of the sun. As the light illuminated her, a tattoo upon the shaved half of her head became clear, a crosshair, lines cutting through a stylized circle.
Twirling her pistol, she shoved it into one of the pouches on her belt, stepping out into the street proper.
"Oh, oh, oh! Excuse me." She waved at a nearby man. He took a step back, a little startled. "Do you know what day it is?"
"Sunday." The man informed her, moving quickly to continue on his way.
"Sunday..." Jayjay tapped her chin, thinking back.
A week. It had almost been a week since she had tried to commit suicide. A week in hell. A wicked grin crossed her face, the woman moving again down the street and through the crowds.
And now hell had spit her back out.

"What? That's absurd!" he cried, highly offended. "If I wanted to scare them, I'd pull out..." His hand dipped into his hat once more, and it emerged armed. "A tommy gun!" Cecil's eyes widened in horror. He ducked as the magician hoisted it over his head and began spraying bullets into the sky. Shrieking, ducking, people ran in all directions, shells clattering on the ground like metal rain, and Buster only howled with laughter.

"Thanks," Asher said, tucking the wallet into his back pocket and eyeing Saito uncertainly. "I assume you had a reason to hang out in my room the whole time?"
