World of warcraft isn't skill lads, sorry to burst your bubbles.
I've played most classes at 2100+ ratings against decent S3 geared combos and i can win effortless most of the time by spamming a few buttons.
World of warcraft is just knowledge and gear, have you tryed to face a S3 rogue with blue gear? have you faced a mage in green gear with your S3, notice the difference in dps with your mage in S3 than blue gear?
When you start playing World of warcraft, you have no idea what spec is the best, you have no idea what gear is the best, but as soon as you look at one of these websites and gain knowledge about your class and how to play it and how to obtain gear to become better, then you'll start understand that WOW isn't skill but knowledge and gear.
You all know that right? i really hope you don't think you have skill, i'm a high ranked player in the misery battleground, i havn't played for long, but after looking at threads on this forum and gaining the required knowledge, i rose in the rankings so easily.
Knowledge isn't skill, you lil' rascals!
Skill is how you react to that knowledge. Knowing the proper counter and using it properly to a given situation is skill.
World of warcraft is just knowledge and gear, have you tryed to face a S3 rogue with blue gear? have you faced a mage in green gear with your S3, notice the difference in dps with your mage in S3 than blue gear?
You're really going there? How often do you face green-geared people in your finalized set of gear? When you're fighting legitimately, it's assumed they have equivalent gear and spec to you; the only thing left is your knowledge
and how you can use it
.

To be honest, you just sound like one of those bitter CS (or countless other redundant FPS) players who's hung up on idea that somebody playing a game like WoW
couldn't possibly have the skill you achieve in your other games. Put your ego to rest.
You're just bitter because it's true.

Oh I understand quite well, but "skill" doesn't equate to using Voice communication, season 3 gear and a cookie-cutter class composition, which is what high-level Arena is all about (I run in a 1950 5v5 as a Destro Lock, we haven't been able to get any higher because we face the same combinations over and over again.)
Seriously? AMGZ!
On a serious note: How in the world can you expect to play optimally if you're bitter about optimal setups? This game isn't about being forced into cookie-cutter and good gear, this game is about
choosing
the optimal gear, the optimal talents, the optimal team setups for superior synergy. You can't be optimal is you intentionally choose the least optimal setups.
And voice chat? Are you seriously going to argue that using voice chat is unfair?
Look at it the other way; you can't argue that, no matter how much knowledge someone has of their class and how to react, that things like gear/ping/spec etc don't play a huge part. As for voice chat, you don't think all the top Arena teams in the world are a bunch of guys sitting on a LAN communicating in the same room? You're saying that wouldn't give any advantage at all, they are just somehow more skilled? All that is is time/effort put in, not a reflection of "skill".

Well...
It's true, that without knowledge or gear, your're just a free honor...
But. Without skill, gear or knowledge can't make you the best. My main chars are mage and priest, secondary is rogue, and i tried all other classes on a private fun server.
And I can say, that there are differences between de skill and gear "requirements" of the classes to be effective.
For example:
rogues dont really need skill to use. Just good weapons (! not really other in gear), and the knowledge, than you should use the premade processes against different opponents (for example, a mage is very easy to beat in low or midle gear...)
Or ele shamy: just put down the required totems, than lb cl es + ns lb... does not really requires any skill. Same by the encha shamy, totems, frostshock wolf, than stromstrike, and one/two hit for example a mage...
In all cases, I say Mage is the the "Class with the most skill." The second is holy and disc priest (because the missing of silence).

Balance Druids, Ret Paladins, Elemental Shamans and Survival Hunters are some of the most challenging specs to play WELL. Any class in the game is NOT difficult to play, WoW is a game designed to be accessible to 12 year olds. Quit kidding yourselves that mastering the basics of the game requires a degree of "skill".
I must say, my survival huntard plays very easily. You can own in 4 simple steps
1.] Engage enemy
2.] steady, normal, and arcane shot, as well as any DoT shots
3.] When your enemy is near you, drop freezing trap/wingclip, run off (step 2 again)
4.] Repeat steps 2 and 3 as necessary
Yeah, and then you get hamstrung/crippling poison/stunlocked/maimed/rooted/intercepted, how do you get away?
And i'm talking about heavy Survival with no Scatter Shot.
Good luck just "running away" from anyone who knows what they're doing...
