Not sure if anyone else has posted/heard about it too, but I've heard around that once you get to level 55 on a new character, you can begin to make the character into a deathknight? Not sure if I read my server's forums topic right, but it's what I've gotten from it. ;P
Pretty much, as long as you have a lvl 55 on the server you're good to go.

I'll be leveling my paladin to 80. I really would like to play a death knight and see how it is so I can group better when I'm tanking with 3 DPS DKs... (...) but I don't want to contribute to the massive flood, or deal with spawning issues when you have a bunch of lv. 55s running around Felwood (or wherever, might have their own starting area?) competing to kill
furbolg
so they can get into Winterspring...
The flood is going to be massive. Luckily, it's 1 per account per server, that can control it just a tiny bit.

I got an idea... a hero class that ONLY does healing... just in different styles, possibly a:
-HoT/Reactive heals spec (earth shield)/effect heals (Seal of Light, Shadow Priest heals) (Resto Shaman-ish minus normal casts)
-Regular cast-time heals with a few instant casts (Holy Paladin-ish)
-Something weird. Like a giant AoE heal/damage.
All of the specs use two shields. Yeah.
I don't care if you think it's weird, my server needs healers.
Apologies if it's off-topic.

You're right and wrong at the same time. Sort of.
If you have a level 55 character on your account, you can create an entirely new Death Knight character. This does not require converting/sacrificing any of your existing characters at all. Basically, getting one character (presumably your main) to level 55 "unlocks" the ability to create a DK.
The only restriction has to do with PvP servers; you cannot create an alliance DK on a PvP server if you already have a Horde character on that server, and vice versa.

Well, i would first make a DK , lvl him to 70 lvl then get my main to 80 lvl and then just go again on the DK:)

im definetly not rolling death knight
resons
1) since u gota have 2 professions u gota power lvl both of them which is like 2k on my server
2) every1 will be death knight, i hate people that reroll, learn to play ur class u nubs
3)i like to lvl clases that are hard to lvl (priests, pallys) and from what ive seen dk will be like lock wearing plate
i might drop my mining and pick up inscription, just to check it out
That's how it was when TBC was released, everyone Horde immediately re-rolled to a BE Paladin, and I'm pretty sure everyone on Alliance re-rolled for Draeni Shaman as well. It was annoying for the first, oh maybe 5 months? To basically not even have to look at the BE or Draeni's class and already know what they were. It's probably going to have th same effect when WoTLK is released as well.

I'm leaving my hunter in the dust and rerolling to a DK. Unless they totally revamp the class, going through 6 tiers of gear... it gets boring :P

I will most likely alternate between leveling my mage to 80 and playing a DK, I get bored less doing that. DK is a TON of fun to play btw. Of course, that's just me, and the class is destined to change by the time WOTLK is released so who knows?
Frost DK ftw

Im powerleveling my DK straight to 80, with any luck i'll be the first on my server (or at least on my faction). I expect a lot of the other DK players to either give up or go back to their mains after a few levels, and those who do stick with it probably wont level as fast =P
Assuming I'm able to do that, I'll have my guild help me gear up quickly and put the class to the test in WOTLK's raids.

U guys remembered when tbc came out, about EVERY horde player made a Paladin and EVERY alliance made a shaman. this will happend to and everyone will lvl to lets say lvl 60, then realise "omfg i can't get a pug every1 is DK!", and then people will go vback to there regulare lifes and lvl there mains.
for me that doesn't have a main will probably start a Deathknight and realise that it isn't that much fun and play something else.
This will happen, casuing there to be another big group of dps, and a few more tanks, but when everyones a tank or dps there will be a shortage of healers.
Exactly the reason why i've made druid, priest and paladin alts... and currently getting them up to 70...
Once the hubbub is over i'll level a DK but while there's going to be so much chance to get other chars up to 80 in groups and even loads of offspec gear as everyone's going to be dps classes.

First off, im going to create my DK (gnome), do the introduction quest and park it in the nearest inn. Then i will level my warrior to 80 and maybe my mage before i start leveling my death knight (which will be rested until level 80 at that time)
You can only have 1½ level of rested XP at any given time.
I'll definitely level my rogue first. Nothing beat the world PvP when everyone was just fresh level 70 (which was basically the same as level 60 - no resilience, low HP, a great load of unskilled people you could toy around with) and I definitely don't wanna miss out on that by getting to level 80 last.
I love the game the most when people are still exploring all the new stuff, so "arriving" a month or so later than everyone else would really ruin it for me.
