I have just started a hunter that i know im going to make beast spec, and i am a dwarf. what i dont know is what type of pet to get and how hard or easy its going to be to lvl as beast spec. i will not retrain talents so im going to do alot of research on the perfect build for endgame progression. Im by no means going to PvP on this char, this is going to be my main raider for ranged dps.
any tips, tricks, advice would be extremely appreciated
thank you

Yoiks! You should be able to handle 2-4 mobs at a time if you use your traps correctly and dont wait until your pet is almost dead to heal them. As a BM you can handle elites your level or right above you again with the right moves. Learning how to use your traps is everything. If you see your pet getting beat up then you already should have the trap at your feet (usually freezing trap) and distract shot to get the healthy ones to come to you. Also keep your shots raining down on what your pet is attacking. Once you get rage for your pet, then it even becomes easier. Make sure your pet has growl trained.
Also if you do take a cat as a pet do not train bite! It has a cooldown while claw does not.

@ geekfather
training both bite and claw will have a higher DPS than trinaing just claw or just bite
For the slight DPS gain you get for training both why would you want to waste training points on it? At least based on the data I have seen I am curious as to why it should be trained.
