I prefer it to the banner/header ads. It's "bigger" in terms of screen dimensions, but in terms of presence in the process of using the site, it's much smaller. Plus, it's not animated- and it looks decent.
(Plus, the browser doesn't get caught up in "Waiting for cdn5.tribalfusion.com..." (or similar ad URL) by trying to load it)

Can't say I like it either, mostly because one single misclick results in a popup. Advertisements are okay, obstrusive advertisements including mouse traps (even on right click, oh my...) really ain't okay, sorry.

The fact that a pop-up opens (well in my case, TRIES to open) even on right click is really stupid. I don't mind ads, but a mouse trap is just stupid.
Anyhow, right click, AdBlock image, boom. Back to the normal WoWhead look and feel. Although the black area surrounding the search box still remains a mouse trap.
P.S. In case your interested in this program I'm using, just google "firefox plugins" in case you're using Firefox and search the site for AdBlock.

Wowhead wouldn't be advertising it if it wasn't a potentially awesome product
The size and obstrusiveness of this advertisement smells of epic fail, not potentially awesome.

I'd be more likely to click a link if it was an unobtrusive "sponsored link" at the bottom of the page, right before / after the line where news goes. Like
this
, for example. With a loud ad like the current one I'm turned off because it leads me to believe the company doesn't have a good product and instead needs to resort to baiting.

Adblock doesn't work either. You can hide the image, but the onclick div is still there.

I'm not sure what the big deal is. This is a hand approved campaign (obviously, we had to put it up there by hand). It doesn't "spawn a popup", it just opens a link in a new window when you click on it, just like any other banner ad--which is presumably a lot better than redirecting the entire browser. It also doesn't spawn a popup on right click--I'm not sure what's causing that behavior, you might check your PC for spyware on that one.
I don't know why everybody is so concerned about this--it's not a "new homepage", it's just a site skin ad, same as you will see on a nearly daily basis on Curse, Photobucket, IGN, Gamespot, etc.
I haven't tested the product yet, though I'm driving out to LA to give it a shot on Wednesday. I'll let you guys know if it's any good.
Also, if you DO have complaints I understand, but let's try and restrict it to one topic, hm?
