This is pure bulldookie.

The reason DKs can DW is the same reason Blood Elves can be hunters.

Because that is what people want.

Let me correct myself.

Because that is what want and they make up most of the WoW sales.

You can dual wield and still throw some effective DPS, but most DK attacks are based off weapon damage, which means that the more base weapon damage you have, the harder your ___ strikes are going to hit.

I've seen DW DK's throw some decent dps and have tried it myself, but I prefer using a 2h. Play around with it yourself and you'll see the damage difference.

EDIT: that being said though, some folks in the forums seem to be playing with some pretty nasty DW dps setups... if you have the gear, could be viable o_O

I too have been a Tri-spec DW DK and cleared all of the 10 content as one. (guild doesn't do 25 mans by choice) I am almost always #1 on DPS with and overall avg of 3k dps, and this is still with some blues.

I do not have my OH hit capped, i have around 400 hit rating which is enough to hit with my MH every time and for all my spells/specials to hit as well. Which is really all you "need", any extra is always nice but it would be better to stack Crit after that.

Personally, it is just a difference in play and how you "want" to play. If you "want" to DW then DW if not then use a 2H. You can do great DPS with either if you have a good spec, decent gear and know what you are doing.

As with everything else it all depends on the player, not the class/spec.

DW vs 2H is more of play style preference, the white damage for DW is gunna be the same as 2H since 2H deals about 1.5k with a good wep and DW does about 1k main hand and half that (500) off hand if you were to DW the same weapon. If you want to gather hit rating over stacking strength it's your decision. Obviously DW is a viable setup if people are toping off at about 6k DPS on patchwerk it's more a play style than a one is greater than the other.
