Ok, because I'm certain people in this thread (except 1) do not know anything about high end Arena.
Shadow Meld is OP. Perception is OP.
In the 2k rating, playing a Druid/Hunter mirror match. Pets both die from LoSing the enemy druid. The NE Druid shadow-drinks. Now what can the enemy team do. Hunter can flare and sting to stop the drinking, wasting time, and mana. The druid can hurricane. Both highly ineffective methods just to take a NE druid out from drinking. That 1 tick means winning or losing in drain matches. If the team is CC'd at any point, the NE just keeps on drinking. This also works if you are a priest.
Not to mention, by abusing proximo's targeting. A NE Warrior can get the first hit and be untargetable on proximo.
Now on to perception. Every single Rogue in the arena tournament who knew what they were doing was Human.Perception allows you to get a sap off on ANY non-human rogue, or jump any druid in stealth. This once again means 8 seconds unable to do anything, or a waste of a trinket. Which then leads up to a blind which then means you are unable to trinket that.
To anyone who says a larger hitbox by being a Male Tauren is ALWAYS A good thing is a scrub. This means it's harder to LoS things, say as a Druid.
Now, I'm not saying that Alliance and Horde are equal, but just because Alliance abilities are situational, doesn't mean that they are bad. Infact, by looking at the situations, they fit EXACTLY for arena. And a majority of the population, including Blizz believe Arena is the most important thing. As class changes are happening based on Arena stats.
W/e. I'm going to be flamed for this, but prevanishing against Human teams are creating loses.
You want to know why perception is great right now? Because rogues are grossly OP, and a racial that is useful for countering the most overpowered class will be viewed as overpowered, since nothing else comes close to stopping them
And if your pet is getting killed when you have a druid healer in 2s, you're bad at managing your pet

Lack of reading comprehension FTL.
No thoughtful rebuttals, you just close your eyes, put your fingers in your ears, and say "NO, YOU'RE WRONG!". Is it even possible to have an intelligent, articulate conversation with you people?
Sir, your pseudo-intellectualism and blatantly confrontational replies are not only unnecessary and hypocritical, but also annoying. Because you continue to respond to those insulting you, you send the message that YOU do not want intelligent conversation, you merely want agreement. Thus people continue to respond in a hostile way. You have stated your opinion, and I'm sure many of those here appreciate it. However please, unless you have done extensive statistical research to prove all of your detractors wrong, don't respond to their jibes. It merely clogs this thread with trolling.
I can see the OPed nature of Shadowmeld, but don't agree. The fact that the stealth is very limited, and that you must remain stationary makes this a very limited ability. However, like every racial, under the correct circumstances SM is very powerful. For example, night elves are the only race where every class can pop out of nowhere and take part in a full-scale ambush. Not just the Rogues and Druids. Also the ability to eat/drink while stealthed is INCREDIBLY useful, but not game-breaking.
I personally don't believe that the horde requires an equivalent ability, because many of their abilities do make up for it. completely negating the strength of an entire class (wotf to warlocks) is no laughing matter, and a ranged pull for paladins (arcane torrent) is a PvE godsend. That and an AoE stun(Tauren)/silence(BEs) does wonders for interrupting a flag cap/spells. Trolls have the short end of the stick however... Berserkering is crap.
That's not to say the alliance doesn't have nice abilities either. Escape artist is godly, and by far a warrior's dream come true. Also, it is the only ability in the game that can dispel hamstring, very useful in most pvp cases. Perception is no slouch, so is stoneform. I however disagree on GotN... The heal is useful, but not very powerful w/o +healing gear.
Overall, I believe the horde have a greater number of
powerful
racials (wotf, warstomp, hardiness), but the few powerful racials the alliance receive can make up for it. (Escape Artist)

Stoneform is good, yes. It is essentially a watered down cloak of shadows. However, the CD is 3 minutes (again, to keep it from being OP), and blind was moved to the physical school so stoneform won't dispell it any longer
.
He's talkin about the poisons and bleeds a rogue can stack on you, love it on my huntard, gets rid of movement impairments and -heal ect from rogues, can make or break an arena match.
Perception? Horde racials that help one or two classes, you call trash. This racial helps you against only two classes, but it's "incredibly powerful"? Heh.
This can help against more than one class, it can play a large roll in PVP, but this is only helpful in PVP, for instance, when that NE war runs out into arena and shadowmelds next to a piller.... yeah can be great to counter two classes and ANY Nelf.
That said, Both of you made valid assesments form different perspecitves, and i agree with some of what both of u stated. best part about human perception for my pally is mounting after u pop it and riding like the wind to spot stealthies.
however i love my locks bloodrage(?) because of spell damage increase, but only really feasable in PVE because of focus fire i get in pvp.
@ubernothin: Well said
