Communism....scums..real life beggars...dear god why do you even play this game.
You've intertwined real life issues with a friggin game. Money.. what money, its not real. The point I was trying to make was not about saying no to someone..it was about making them do things, thinking they would get the money only to leave them feeling foolish. Just asking people to give a little consideration to who might be on the other side of that toon begging for money. Geez..I'm surprised you haven't had Topper Mcnabb arrested and put in the stockades.
Now I know all about the necessity to earn money in this game and I doubt many people do it better then me, and I do know the definition of a professional chiseler. I am not without limits on my generosity. I do agree that people should learn to earn.
The original poster ask a question and I gave a point a view on what I read. Hazzel you didn't respond to debate my point, you spouted your anger.I guess some people are just angry at the world.
As for the gold..so you've gather every last gold coin there is in WoW..so what..then what? You sit in the middle of some square miserly counting your imaginary gold.? Your choice.
Me..I %^&* it away. I buy blue and epic items for members of my guild to surprise them. The joy of some kid saying "thankyou ,your the best" is worth ten times that gold, and if some beggar should come along looking to bum a gold piece..here you go buddy spend it in good health..wtf.. I can make 100 times that in an hour. My choice. I'm happy..how about you.?

By far my favorite is the Infernal/Doomguard Misdirect one. Takes some time but its so funny, well worth doing. Too bad the CC Misdirect one doesnt work anymore.

"its not real"...
Assuming that you don't buy gold then there is only one way to get gold in the game. Spend your playing time in ways that generate gold. Assuming that in RL you don't live on the product of investments there is only one way to get money. Spend your life in ways that generate money. Not a perfect parallel surely, but there is a connection. Currency whether in game or not is the product of how you spend your time. Therefore it has value.
Beggars whether on the street in real life or in the game trade not annoying you for some of the value of your time. Just as I don't give money to street beggars I don't give gold to in game beggars.
If a very low level character (less than 10) begs for gold I ask them about their professions and offer advice. Beyond that I assume that they are just begging. Of all the comments here I like the summon to deep water the best. If I played a lock that would be my choice for "professional beggars". From my perspective its an annoyance trade they actively annoy me for money in return they get annoyed by dying, taking gear damage, and having to recover their corpse from deep water or spirit rezing. Perhaps they will get the message that deliberately annoying people in game has annoying consequences.
One more point. I have alts on 12 different servers. Every one has been solo leveled (as were the two that I consider my mains, former and current). While leveling without outside assistance is more difficult than when someone hands you resources, its completely feasible. I've been on the "other side" of the monetary equation and never fround a need nor had a desire to beg.

Some shammies on my server leave out a lava totem (think that's the one) and log out, so it briefly turns offensive and melts the lvl 1 beggars at org bank. I remember one night seeing a stack of about 20 corpses named redghfvytdf... not sure if it still works though.
Hey I sometimes see random offensive totems, but I didnt think they would actually work and kill friendly players. Rofl I would try that but I don't feel like levelling a shammy to 70 right now.

Why I play this game? It's addictive, easy as that.
There is no possibility for me to get "full gold" because as soon as I get a new item I enchant it and then buy epic gems for it. This costs alot of hard earned money. It's not like I enjoy doing dailies, I do it because I need the money.
Personaly I don't think a thank you from a punkass kid over the internet is worth more than WoW gold.
Awww how cute, you're happy <3. I'm the mean one who is angry and will die lonely because I don't hand beggars money right? :((
Cut the disney world and come to the real one will ya? These !@#$ing beggars are nothing but pricks who refuse to EARN their money, they deserve to be treated like the sleaze they are.
Hazzel.. you've obviously gone" Kookoo for Cocoa Puffs" and there's no coming back.
You sound like one of those people who was never given a break..and you'll be damned if you allow anyone else to get one....Pity.
MrFredll...I work like everyone else and I make money investing. The investing part is what payoffs when it comes to making money in WoW. It's really very simple and easy to make gold, all you need is some patient and an ability to follow trends and no I don't patronize any of those gold selling websites. (like I'd really give any of them my credit card number). Does it require putting in time to make gold..Yes!
As for your other comments..I've already stated my view on professional beggars. but here is where you and I differ. You say its annoying..my point is why even let it annoy you.? Just ignore it and go about your business. WoW is suppose to be respite from the real world and the nonsense we have to deal with, not a place to go find even more of it. I laugh at everything that goes on in this game..I play it for serious fun..not seriously. Beggars, slackers, brats and trash talkers are a 24 ordeal on WoW, you either ignore them and go about your fun with your friends and guild members or spend your whole time being annoyed.
Just one final point to make, if you were dealing with a professional game beggar..do you really think he would fall for any of those "sucker" quest that everyone is posting..doubtful. Isn't it more likely that if someone does believe it and goes on one of them.. that he/she is a "noob" and mostly likely not of an adult age(since most adults wouldn't beg for money) so whats left to assume?...a kid.
Annnnnnyyyyone here have a kid in the family..? Would you handle their noob action that way..? Why do it to some other noob kid. nuff said

If they are over level 20 and have
leveled in the Barrens
, I would actually give them a nice sum of gold.

Depends on the type of gold spammer.
If they ask nicely and use propper English, I usualy give them a few golds.
If they whisper me saying "Hai u giv me g plz I ned 4 mount", I tell them that my account just got hacked by a keylogger, and that the virus is still in my character, and whispering me causes it to spread to your computer.

Well actually, you should think about what I said for a moment... The pain of suffering Barrens chat is easily worse than being warlock summoned into the Twisting Nether.
