But even after all the testing and all the complaints, Blizz generally sees nothing wrong with our abilities.
So who is missing a piece of the puzzle? You? or Blizz?

Ever heard of blessing of freedom?
Given the reaction time between getting cc'ed and getting off a HAND of Freedom, You can get a good 5 yards away. Understand that HoF doesn't make us any faster. If you get over 10 yards away, HoF wont get us any closer.
Also, what happened to blinking 20 something yards away. That's like an 'I WIN' button for mages. The ONLY thing a pally can do from that range is repentance, which can be trinketed.

This is speaking generally, since WoW is also a game of skill, gear, timing, and luck....
Generally, Ranged DPS have an advantage against ret pallies for the reason that ret pallies have no snare, spell interrupt, or major movement increase skills. We are kites-- IN a HUUGE way. HoF does nothing but make sure we cant be snared, but at that pont we are only moving as fast as you. As stated before, the only spell he have outside 10yrds is repentance, which is on a 1min cd and can be trinketed out of. We also have HoW, but that can only be used under 35%. If you can get the positioning right on a pally, thats not even a factor.
That being said, we do have an advantage against any dps that needs to be within our range to be effective. This includes rogues, warriors, enh shammies and the like. This is because their mechanics play to our close range strengths. In this case a little more luck is required, but there are still ways. In this case, you need to get the drop on a ret pally. Force their holy ass to play some defense. That means get them into heal mode. This means open strong, and get them out of their nuke rhythm. Let him know he will need to heal to beat you. The reason for this is when a ret pally is at 40% hp and tries to heal, their is nothing more demoralizing and intimidating then having that heal be interrupted.
Over all, its pretty much a rock-paper-scissors situation, all things equal. No class/spec is utterly dominant. That's an illusion built by novice players to generate sympathy.

1v1, it's all about keeping from getting hit too hard and kiting.
Yes, I have been schooled by a rogue. The new pvp is Mut. They hit hella hard. The rogue has to play really smart tho, and know when to trinket/vanish/cos/evasion/blind/gouge/dismantle/run the hell away.(did you notice, that's 8 talents to avoid pally burst. We have 3 ways to get out of stuns/cc's, and they can only be used once. We can only stop a rogue once as well. Use your energy/CP's right.
All of you people that get all bent out of shape about pally dps. Warriors have been doing it this whole time. I saw a S3/4 geared ms war push 1500 dps in kara. I push 1050, but I have less gear than him... The only thing that makes you mad is we have 2 unmittigated attacks(judge and hammer).

Warriors hit harder per hit, and execute hits for more than hammer of wrath. The only difference is we can talent to crit more regularly(Yes, I love the new tree! I still need a healer behind me. And drain tactics still work on pallies. I killed one with my disc priest after finishing his mage partner off as they killed my partner.)

Pretty much that, IMO Blizzard made ret pallys the most absurdly OP class ever, they can burst someone down in less than three seconds, wear plate, and can bubble... I think something is wrong here, I'm glad that they got a buff, but being able to take people 1v3 consistently? thats messed up.
Ret pallys would still be OP if their skills hit 80% as hard, and could be competitive if they hit 65% as hard...
But as it is now... there is only one thing to do... /reroll ret pally

Why does this sound like a QQ from a "Nerf Lock" thread from 2 years ago? :D Ahh finally, the days of me dealing with nerf locks QQs are gone! :P

And also, I have retadin friends that have speed boost gear so their speed is already fast as is.
This is ONLY 15%. That kind of increase is negligible and can be overcome with some half-decent evasive running patterns. You'd be surprised how annoying it can be for a ret pally if you just run in a zigzag form. And It doesn't stack with anything.
ALSO, blink does have pathing issues meaning if I was fighting near AB near the water and tried to get away w/ blink, I turn to the water Boom, and I blink actually nowhere. Wsg same thing, blink near the tunnels, and it doesn't blink you anywhere.
That's just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I mean theres no way to avoid a ret pally in a tunnel. Tough luck. Death happens.
but ret's atm need a lil bit of a check right now.
Our melee burst is the foundation of our offense. Overcome it to overcome us. Simple.
