When you give an eta knowing you will go over it, it's a lie.
How do you know the ETA delay was an accident?
As a developer myself I know that fixing one error can lead to another error randomly appearing and you fix that. Rinse and repeat.
Fixing the mail system isn't just like ticking the magic checkbox to make it work again.

You must have never actually read the announcements and just jumped right to when it'd be back up.
All realms will be offline for scheduled maintenance starting at 5:00am PST.
This should last approximately
6 hours and will be affecting all realms.
At this time, Realm Maintenance is currently extended. We will be posting with an update in a few hours with a time as to when the realms should be back up. We are still actively investigating the issues with player mailboxes and we hope to have the situation resolved and realms up
as soon as possible.
We will be performing an urgent maintenance on all realms beginning at 4:00 AM PST.
We anticipate no more than three hours of downtime
. This maintenance is designed to correct a very recent issue where players were able to obtain certain PvP items without paying the intended price.

Didn't the servers come up on time, but then had to be brought down again as they
accidentally
screwed up the mail? And if they weren't sure what exactly was wrong, it would be extremely hard to estimate an eta.

I think we should try a new approach, let's have whoever is telling us that we'll get to play in X amount of hours tell blizzard they don't get money for X amount of hours, then just keep not giving it to them. I bet $%^& gets running faster then.
I'd just /quit cause I'm not getting paid for my work.

I have a better approach.
QUIT WHINING. Yes, in all caps, just like that.
Seriously. If you want to complain about the game that draws in over 11 million people every month, then complain verbally. To a friend. Go punch your dog or something
WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A PUBLIC THREAD ABOUT IT?
Trust me. We have the game too. We know. We really, really know. And guess what. Thumbs the frick up to Blizzard. More downtime, I say! The longer they keep the game WHINER free so they can fix the problems, the ultimately smoother everything will run when it's back up.
Go do something else.

Go punch your dog
While that's a very drastic approach to kicking the QQ addiction, it's good to get people's mind off their problems.

I didn't make a public thread, other people did, other people that share the same opinion, so obviously there's some truth in it. Yes, it's hard to keep stuff running properly on this large of a scale, understandably, as people have pointed out, when writing lines of coding it's beyond easy to screw up something down the road, trust me, I know. But that's why these people went to college for years and then went to extensive job interviews so they could make lots of money while designing games that work properly. They're doing their job, nobody is denying that, what i'm saying is they aren't doing it well enough. Blizzard makes billions of dollars a year, they can have extra people come in, work overtime, whatever they need to do to make this work on time. For what is arguebly the largest gaming company in the world, one would expect them to be able to run effectively, regardless of patches.
Nothing ever works 100%. Period.

$15.00/month is one of the best entertainment values for my money I can find.

ready?
15 a month for 12 months is 180
180 times 11 million is 1,980,000,000
This is hardly...
Blizzard makes billions of dollars a year
Marketing + Salary + Electricity Bills?
Have you counted the amount of Realms ( Playable Servers ) they have?
