Last Friday when I got Wrath I had these epic plans to stock up on Hot Pockets, VitaminWater, Coca-Cola, 100 calorie Oreo packs, Arizona Iced Tea, and ice cream and have an epic all-nighter for WoW.
I didn't make it past 4 AM, so I'm amazed this kid was able to play for as long as he did.
Out of curiosity, what level did this boy reach?

Wow, this kid is an moron, plain and simple...
Also, it's funny how he collapsed after 24 hours, even though it's not that long of a time to be up for.

And this is truly the reason that Blizz should put a time limit on this game,
Iam not saying like 4 hours, but if you are less than say, 16, 24 hours awake can be very dangerous
Furthermore, in South Korea they wanted to ban this game(not sure if they did,,,,) because numerous kids legit DIED playing,,,,
Most likely farming or raiding, because you can do something like that for a long period of time but my point is, there should be a point that Blizz cuts the cord
Why should Blizz be the one to cut the cord? They aren't this childs parent.
Why do people think that parents should not be responsible for what their kids do and that companies and governments should limit this and that?
I am amazed at the lack of parenting these days, people let their children do just about anything and then cry foul when something bad happens, instead of teaching their kids the right things. We as society need to take responsibility for our own actions (and/or non-action) and quit blaming the big corporations and governments.
I counter that statement by asking-why do car companies put in air bags?
Why does Wal Mart put up a wet floor sign?
Why does Ruby Tuesday say that eating raw/ undercooked meat might be harmful?
Because they are being responsible.
Blizz has a duty to help the people that bought their game, they should cut the cord, end of story
Sure, the parents were horrible in this case, HOWEVER, i think the kids would have found a way to play,,,,
Blizz can simply ban them for say, six hours, or so, once they think the child's health is not in danger
No offense, but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you as well, putting up a wet floor sign or a little note at the bottom of a menu is one thing, but babysitting 11 million people? Who has the time or man power for that? Blizzard has no requirement to have to pay attention to however long people are playing, that's the parents/person's sole responsibility, besides, blizzard already put in a "PARENTAL CONTROL" option in the account section of their website, to allow parents to put stipulations on their child's playtime, etc. That's seems like enough for me.
It's true, parents don't give a rats ass about their children until they do something horrible and the spotlight is on them, as a parent, and the only thing they can do is blame it on someone or something else. How many times during that 24 hour period do you think the dad went into his kid's room to check on him?
Probably none. Point made.
And after the kid collapses and it's all over the news, NOW he's going to do something about how much his kid plays. Amazing.

Its simple, you reach a certain hour point, auto forced log
It would quite a simple thing to set up....you do not even need someone to man the PCs
I mean, half of all stocks are controlled by what a computer thinks the market will do, ie thats how we have our current credit crisis
I am quite sure that a PC can kick ya off the pc at a certain time,,,,
Post 500 whOOt whOOt!
The parental control section of a World of Warcraft account is made for the purposes of parents/guardians being able to set limits for the person who plays World of Warcraft when they're not able to make that decision themselves. When someone turns 16 and goes to get their permit/license to drive, they are taught how to responsibly operate a vehicle until they're able to do it by themselves.
If a parent/guardian wants to set those controls until they know how much of a game their child can play without injury, then they should be the one to do so, but it's not Blizzard's responsibility to teach people limits. If someone is playing who can't put a limit on their gametime and they end up collapsing like the kid in this story, it's their responsibility to set limits for themselves or let other people do it for them, not Blizzard's.
Also, there are many people who are fully aware that they play for long periods of time and, while they know they shouldn't play that much, are healthy afterwards because they know their limits. If Blizzard kicked off everyone who's been online for a certain number of hours, many people would be outraged by it.
Controlling the somewhat unpredictable twists and turns of the stockmarket can't really be related to someone playing a video game too long.
Congratulations on your 500th post.

This is the kind of thing that made me vow not to try to go for Realm Firsts.
or get to level 80 too fast (I'm taking it about 0.5-1 level a day).
