70-80 Leveling: need help with Surv Spec

So on advice from a guildee, I tried out survival in a dungeon and loved it. I was doing great dps with explosive shot and black arrow. It left and tried to do some solo stuff with my little boar and was having a real rough time keeping agro on him. I tried to get a macro to misdirect on my pet, and I think it works, but what do I do the other 20 sec when Misdirect is on cooldown.

I've been using black arrow, serpent sting, and explosive shot to start and the one more explosive if it is necessary. My pet cannot hold any agro unless I misdirect and even then I've noticed that I can quickly overtake him on threat.

Any help on keeping aggro as a survival hunter?

I'm leveling my hunter Surv through NR as well, I've found that if you switch off using Feign Death and Misdirect I can generally have my pet take all the damage of a mob. Misdirect onto pet at beginning and pop Explosive Shot to give your pet a bunch of aggro, Black Arrow, Serpent Sting, etc. Gives a hefty amount of threat and mob'll proly be dead by the time you take aggro. While MD is on it's 30sec CD you can use Feign Death to reset your aggro while you pet still is generating aggro on the next mob. Also make sure you have Growl on and cower off.

It's also my suggestion that you use a ferocity pet, not tenacity. He's not gonna hold aggro anyway, so why sacrifice the damage that ferocity can bring you? Plus it makes people sad if a hunter comes into a random instance with a bear. xD

Ok thx a lot for your advice. I'll look at switching Misdirect with FD and figure out how I can burn them down before they get to me. SV has made me a god, though, in random dungeons. I've been out dpsing DK's at my level.

One other question: has anyone leveled as MM for northrend? Can they compare it to SV in that its about burning down the mob quickly?
