I don't attack unless provoked, or typically if the opposing faction is killing quest-givers or any other NPCs that serve a useful function.

If they f*ck around with emotes that provoke me I kill 'em. Otherwise, I like helping them by killing mobs they've tagged :)

As a general rule I will not harm an opposing player, unless they're attacking my factions cities, ganking, or killing quest givers.

I play on a PvE server, so my rules don't often come into play.
If a tagged Hordie (I mostly play Alliance :P ) is running by, and they are 3 levels or lower than me, I give them a /wave and move on.
If a tagged Hordie is running by, and they are 3 levels lower/3 levels higher than me, I'll /grin and ask if they want to duel.
If it's a freshly-dinged 80, I'll also /grin and ask them to duel. (I'm level 75 when I write this by the way)
If I see a tagged Alliance running away from a tagged Hordie, I will Chains of Ice them, allowing the Ally to get away.
If a non-tagged Ally starts beating up on a tagged Hordie. I will sit there and /cheer for the Hordie. If the Hordie is a lower level than the Ally I will /slap the Ally then /hug the Hordie.
If I see a tagged Ally killing mobs or just wandering around, and they get ganked by a higher level, I will defend the Ally.
Well, that's my rules. I'm not a big fan of ganking people, and I try to be nice if I see a lower level. :D

Uh, yeah. The last thing I want is a 80 corpse-camping me just because I've killed a level 20 Hordie. -_-
I dont like being ganked, and I'm not about to go and stall someone's play time just because I'm bored.

I only kill others in return for (trying to) kill me, or to help/save others, or to prevent them from taking something I want.
