Nickseng approves of this thread, but I would like to actually hear from him concerning it. So, any comments? I think it's safe to say the OP would be very grateful for any and all contributing help.

Safe to say, I got a bit ahead of myself, but generally, I trust Mathron and think it's about time Fire got it's own thread.
I'll save my comments when there's more to comment on :)
I wouldn't say Ignite is THE defining talent of the fire tree.
I disagree. I agree with Mat regarding Ignite. In addition to just being a fun mechanic and one of the reason for Fire's high DPS, it just really works thematically. It's the Shatter for Fire. :)

Great thread, Mathron =D
I don't have much to add, but I do have something I'd like to comment on:
"III.4 Spell Crit
Don't be mislead by people telling you to stack this stat and find all the crit you can and gem crit - they're wrong. Crit is the stat to gem after damage on orange gems for Frostfire, but it's haste for Fireball. With huge critical multipliers and hot streak, you quickly see the value of crit to a fire mage."
It's kind of odd here. you start by saying that haste is better than crit and not to gem for crit. But then you turn around and imply that crit is hugely beneficial to fire mages.
I see what your point is, but the phrasing is a bit odd to me.
Consider something like:
Critical hits are very important to both Fire/arcane and FFB builds. But unlike FFB's utter dependance on crit (Critical damage being the entire point of FFB and fire's dipping into the frost tree), the fire/arcane build relies more on shortening the cast time of it's relatively long main nuke's cast time. So while crit is still an important stat for fire mages, haste is greater DPS point for point.
That's just an idea (I'm very tired right now, so it's probably a poor one). My main point was that the bit on crit seemed to be going both ways.
Great thread, Mathron =) Hope you're ready to update it come Ulduar!

Wow, this is much more thorough than my dinky Arcane Faq.
I'll need to get off my lazy ass and complete the dang thing. Great Work, Mat!

Just a suggestion, I'd also list decursive over grid+mouse-over decursing. Newbie mages will find it easier, and it works easier for them, plus it's twice as easy to setup a priority list. While I used grid as a healer, some people just never get it.
