Right - that's sort of the issue.
Certain groups hurt you a lot more than others.
in 10s, I have a mana tide totem for Fireball so that really helps even though we don't have replenishment.
I realize you were talking about mana tide, and not mana spring, but I still feel this is semi-relavent.
One thing i've noticed lately, I want to see if anyone else has been having this issue...
If a shaman in your group is dropping Mana spring totem - It is OVERWRITING Greater BoW from paladins. There was a huge arguement about that in this pug I was in the other day about someone not getting BoW... and I noticed it happening in a Heroic CoS run I was doing the other day as well (with a shaman in my guild and of course a pally tank).. I tried having him take his mana spring totem up, and then have the pally put BoW on... then had him drop the mana spring totem again... and sure enough, mana spring went up, BoW went away...
that's a pretty obnoxious thing to happen.. they give you the same amount of mana unless the pally is talented into Imp. BoW - but then the mana spring totem won't count.. has it always been this way and i've just never noticed it?

..wait i thought they changed wisdom to have 92 mana per 5 seconds so that it wouldn't be overwritten?

I've got a question about Fiery Payback. I've never seen it in any PvE build but I found a guy with build like

. I guess what's the idea of it(improves dps when below 35% health because of faster pyro) but does it really work? I know that it's not worth it, u shoukdnt be below 35% much time, but still curious.
no it wouldn't work because A - you shouldn't be below 35% health like you said, and B - the only time pyroblast should be in your rotation is when hot streak procs. The idea of hot streak is that pyroblast is instant cast, and reducing the cast time on it is worthless, since you shouldn't be CASTING it at all.. Also, throwing a 5s cooldown on pyro is just ridiculous because as you get higher crit chances, you'll have it proc several times in a row. Putting a cooldown on it means you won't get to use it as often as you can, and that means an overall DPS loss.

So I been screwing up, im ffb been stacking crit like crazy. I only have 180 haste so would going fire hurt my dps now (hit cap shouldnt be to big of a prob). If you need to check my gear heres the link

Any tips would be appreciated as I been hearing good things of fire now but I just dont think I have the haste for it. I guess I should quit stacking crit and start stacking haste.

I mean he said that idea of it is only situational. He's in progressing thru ulduar so sometimes he actually IS below 35%. 5sec cooldown wont hurt him because u can delay hot streak for that seconds(keep in mind that the fast cast pyro cant proc it anyway only LB final explo would). With such screwed combustion I see here a reason. High coefficient on so fast cast. He gets below 35% starts to cast and gettin healed so cooldown will exist for this 1 cast only.
I'm not saying I like this idea but I'm trying to understand it.
fair enough.. i'm not very far into ulduar yet, so i'll bite on the less than 35% part. I'm not sure i undersatnd what you mean about the fast cast pyro cant proc it, only the LB explosion would.... would proc what? heh. i'm confused.

U said it would make your hot streak unable to cast because of your cooldown on pyro which is made by that talent.(Ofc if I understood well). Pyro(which is casted below 35%) makes 5 sec cooldown on itself but it cant proc hot streak. So It will be living bomb or next ffb means that u can delay casting hs pyro without loosing the proc. However thats just my understanding of putting theese points there.
Btw something got into my mind. 6sec -3.5sec means 2.5sec. assuming no haste ffb casts 3sec. 1.5sec pyro > 3sec ffb but would 2.5sec pyro > 3sec ffb ?
Pyroblast
is now 5 second cast without haste... so that would make it 1.5s with both points in fiery payback before haste, not 2.5.... so yes, I would assume that would make it better to cast than ffb or fireball.
hmmm.. that actually makes me want to consider trying that out.. but of course it would only be viable in fights where i could actually get below 35% long enough to sling one, and like I said.. i'm not into ulduar very far.

Bad as this sounds, planning on being below 35% as a mage is just asking for serious trouble.
Also, the guy is trading all pushback protection, threat reduction, and 3 yards of range all for dragon's breath and this pyro stuff.
I 100% guarantee you that the pushback protection alone will increase your dps more than you'd ever be able to manipulate fiery payback into speedy pyroblast damage.
....all this without mentioning that threat capping is a very serious issue. Ever try Hodir? Better have an amazing tank or it gets more than a little ugly in about half a second.
fair enough.. i wasn't even looking at what else the guy was sacrificing in favor of fiery payback... just merely discussing the benefits/drawbacks of fiery payback alone.

You know, more and more lately I've been finding that warlocks DO have ISB and my scorch is completely moot.
In my guild raids even, our warlocks carry ISB too.
Since my mage is unfortunately my #2 toon, I don't raid on her as much as I do my healing priest (because everybody ALWAYS needs me too heal damnit), I don't have the opportunity to make use of her in raids as much as I do in PUGs and guild alt runs.

i've been seeing it quite a bit as well.. and by locks who are putting out pretty good DPS as well.
Okay.. so... did fire get some sort of nerf? my mage's DPS has been a lot more RNG-ish lately.. For instance, I did a 10m voa yesterday.. on the emalon fight, we wiped the first time and passed it the second time.. On the first try, my DPS was around 4k (we made it about 90s into the fight... the 3rd add was overcharging)... on the second (successful) try, my dps was only around.... idk.. 2.7~2.8k.

alternatively, losing earth and moon (13% spell dmg taken), 5% crit, 2% haste if the boomkin died the 2nd pull could explain things as well.
this right here... i always think about boomies in terms of IFF, and tend to forget about earth and moon. a stray add respawn killed the boomkin the 2nd time after we killed the 2nd overcharged add.
that prolly wouldn't account for a full 1.2k, but RNG played his little dirty tricks on me to explain some of it too, i'm sure. thanks.. i thought i was losing it.
