, didn't insult the guy, didn't call him a newb, didn't say a single bad thing to him, just suggested that next time he has a question to use the search function that is part of the actual website.
Yes, I can be an ass hole at times, but this was not one of them; I did answer the guy's question after.

Possibly a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Or possibly just the fact that tone doesn't come across all too well on the internet.
Just depends on how someone chooses to read something. Personally I find searching faster than posting in the forums, unless it's for something that I just can't figure out for myself, and I'll chose to tell people as such too. Same as you.
