I think that's where the disconnect is for men and women on watching love stories. Women want to watch the 2 hours before that point, and men watch to watch the 20 minutes immediately following. They should package them together, with a 1 minute blue screen between the end of the regular movie, and the beginning of the "extended footage" so that they can trade off on who's watching it :)
If Blockbuster had done that, they'd have avoided bankruptcy- it's much easier to bring home a movie both of you will enjoy if you don't have to watch it at the same time :)

I don't really like the common mold that society says that men are. Real men are painted as some sort of macho, meathead, power tool loving, dense, arrogant, sex crazed, insensitive lemmings. Tim Taylor, Homer Simpson, etc. I don't like how the majority of women are portrayed either, or old people. Hollywood's idea of what people are is doesn't fit what I've seen about people.
My wife and I enjoy the same kind of movies, to a certain point. Twilight was watchable, to me. She will sit down for a WW2 documentary. I'll watch the Time Traveler's Wife with her, and then she'll watch Inglorious Bastards with me.

I agree it's sexist when women do it too. I was mostly just teasing. I personally like more "guy" movies than girl movies, and have no problem with "extended footage".
However, marketing deals with demographics, and the most successful products and services are marketed towards the market demographic that statistically consumes the most of the same or similar products and services. Regardless of whether it's right or wrong morally, most action movies have decided that teen to middle-aged males are their primary market demographic, and they cast and advertise accordingly. The same with the porn industry. I wouldn't say that all males like these things, or only males like these things- but the studies are done in order to make them as appealing as possible to their majority audience.
