That used to be me for the last few weeks, but I'm learning to wake up earlier.

When I caddy for golf, I get very bored, because I think golf is a boring game. I try to find ways to entertain myself. As I'm walking for hours through fields, I sometimes hold a golf club in my hands and pretend it's a magical staff, and I'm Gandalf, going to war with hordes of orc. I can't tell if this is ridiculous, or imaginative, or some marriage of both.

You should also run through sand traps pretending you're on a desert journey =P.

Slow. Boring. Annoying. (I miss my gaming so much, I'm finally at my very short, very much needed holydays and I can't play any games because now my PC refuses to play EVEN GODDAMNED DOOM! And that's a 20 YEAR OLD GAME FOR #$%^S SAKES)

Aww :( Have you taken the obvious measures such as updating drivers and installing OS updates, by any chance?

This is an ongoing problem that has been happening since February last year. What is the problem? my pc shuts down. Randomly. For no apparent goddamned reason.
Already 2 technicians have taken a look at it and none could find the reason, I've already replaced several of the pieces (the ones that don't cost an eye socket and a half over here) and the problem still persists. And now, the only solution is to buy a new one, but given that I am a family man, and that it takes about what I make in 3 months to buy a new one, and as a family man 80% of my salary is compromised already, I just can't do that.
Sure I could save the remaining 20% (Which would mean absolute ZERO expenses for me, or for my wife, for god knows how long) until I have enough to buy a new PC. Except that in this "blooming" economy of ours, by the time I've saved 4 million bolivares, PCs cost an extra million more. And then there's those lovely ohh so convenient unforeseen emergencies that force me to use up all that money I diligently saved for months in order to fix said emergency.
=( being the head of a Family is H.A.R.D
My priorities are straight though, no matter how badly I wanna play my games, if my children get sick, they come first than any PC. That's just how it has to be. Sadly, that means no gaming for me for god only knows how long. Because those random shutdowns were that, random, some days the PC would work the whole day without shutting down once, others it would shut down like 4 times, others it would shut down so often I had to just not use it.
Now? now it can shut down 10 times in a single hour, and if I try to play a game (any game, even WINDOW'S SOLITARY) that's an instant-shutdown.

Oh, man... I remember now. I think I asked you this before too, but, does it give any warning before it shuts down?

not even the courtesy of a "ha ha". I'm playing something and suddenly POOF, my PC is all like "i'm off, suck on that jackass!"
I don't even get a warning to quickly hit the quick-save and prevent all my progress from being lost. For the past year, all the games I've played (Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2 and 3, Deus Ex, Skyrim, Crysis, ect) I've had to play them with my finger plastered on the quick-save button. If I made any progress whatsoever (Slayed that dragon? Finished that converstation? picked up that item) its a quicksave, just in case it shuts down.
If I'm posting a large entry here, I type it on the notepad first, quickly hitting the quicksave after each paragraph to prevent the PC shutting down and making me lose everything I've wrote. (this includes any post larger than 3000 characters for the past year and a half)
And if I'm watching a video on youtube, or playing a game that has no save function (Like MMOs) then its just put my hands together, pray to god, and hope he has my back.

Ouch... perhaps, the next time it shuts down, see if anything at the back of the tower is irregularly hot, that could be an indicator of something. I'm not a hardware expert, so I can't really help you... Sorry, man, that's no fun :(

trust me, I've done everything humanly possible for the past year and a half, including what you suggested.
(partial list: Formatting the hard drive, replacing the hard drive, updating the OS, reinstalling the OS, applying new thermal paste to the CPU, cleaning the whole thing, replacing the RAM memory, replacing the power source, updating the video-card drivers, ect ect ect)

:/ that definitely sounds horrible... it's a shame you couldn't return it and get a new one free of charge, because that definitely warrants a replacement.

our economy doesn't work that way. Besides this is an old(ish) PC.
Buying a new PC from the get-go is just too expensive, so rather than buy new pcs all the time, I just update mine every once in a while. For example I bought a new motherboard 6 years ago, and a new CPU 4 years ago, a new monitor 5 years ago, a new video-card 3 years ago, a new RAM 1 year ago, ect ect.
Slowly updating your PC is cheaper than buying a new one from scratch. Since I don't know what piece is the one defective (Motherboard, CPU, or both) I have to buy both, and that's pretty much the cost of a new PC altogether considering that the motherboard alone costs up to 2 million bolivares.

Gah, even worse. I hope for your sake good fortune comes your way so you can have a chance to fix that. You definitely deserve it, considering all you've been through.
If it helps any at all, I will make it a point to not complain about my computer whenever it acts up. Surely I have no right to.
